GorilladinFollow

Ok after extensive reading. Gorilla's are the new solo pet? I'm seeing less and less cat's on my server. Few warpstalkers but alot of gorilla's. I have a level 70 gorilla I like to farm with. But after what they did to gorilla's I havn't used him much(poor link). This is still the current gorilladin spec right: http://www.wowhead.com/?petcalc=0hzGhbM

And with the 4 extra points: http://www.wowhead.com/?petcalc=0uzGhrMb

For level 70. Maybe I'm wrong. The top build is what I've got my ape currently specced at. Was told lion hearted was not good for soloing. I'm still using a cat. Before the last patch gorilla's could fight one mob without using thunderstomp until another mob attacked me or him. Now I fight one mob and he uses thunderstomp right off the bat.

Wouldn't that end up pulling mobs you don't want to pull. Thats just my take on it. Maybe you all can offer some insight as to gorillas a.k.a gorilladins.

The best way to have Thunderstomp do what you want it to do is to keep if off autocast and only use it when you have more than one mob--of course, if he's using Smack, that might be tricky thanks to the GCD.

The easy thing to do, of course, is to never fight less than two mobs--I believe some have given the advice to gather mobs while mounted and your pet is on defensive, when you dismount he will automatically cast Thunderstomp on all of them and you can start the Volleys. (I could have explained that wrong, I'm no Gorilladin-hunter--perhaps someone can correct me if I am mistaken?)

This is exactly how to do it. It's just a little annoying when you don't realize that you're trying to round up casters XD

I would just do things a little different to your pet's build. This will keep your pet alive longer. Your volley should be strong enough to take down equal-leveled mobs with 2-3 casts of it, so your Gorilla doing a little more damage with Thunderstomp won't speed things up very significantly.

As for your personal build, while you're grinding make sure to have three talents: Endurance Training, Thick Hide and Longevity. Longevity NEEDS to be maxed out at 3 points for Thunderstomp to really be effective.

This is were I'm at now http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&n=SulvainMidnight.

Should I spec 51 to have the extra points for gorilladin or what I have now will do fine?
Cause if gorilla is the new pet to have while soloing then I wanna have the build to make him just that. A proper gorilladin. I know the feeling when rounding up caster and one suddenly hits you with a frost bolt not knowing were it came from lol

Edit: By the way thanks for the replies you 2. :D

The extra four points aren't worth the extra point from GftT or Lethal shots imo

I didn't take 51 points until I was level 71. The four extra points definitely helped with grinding, but I'm not sure it's worth losing Go for the Throat. I've never noticed whether Volley Crits restore pets' focus, but if it does (I'm pretty sure it should), GftT is really important for your Gorilla to be able to get off Thunderstomp.

This is the build I'm using now. Respecced after reading extensively.

I respecced my gorilla to the above spec. Working really good now. Ape has over 12k armor and almost 9k life. He's a beast. Just wanna know if my build is were it needs to be to use gorilladin effectively.
