ISSUE 1: Accuracy >> Exceptional Agility

I have Exceptional Agility on both of my one-hand weapons. Looking at Accuracy, it would seem that it holds a lot more potential.

Exceptional Agility: Permanently enchant a melee weapon to increase Agility by 26. Requires a level 60 or higher item.
Accuracy: Permanently enchant a melee weapon to increase critical strike and hit rating by 25. Requires a level 60 or higher item.

From wowwiki (Hunter >> Attribute conversions: HERE)
1 Agility = 0.552 Critical Strike Rating

Assuming that info is still accurate:
26 Agility = 14.352 Critical Strike Rating

Here is why I am thinking of changing my enchants:

1) I have always thought of Critical Strike Rating (Crit Rating) as important and so, giving almost twice as much, Accuracy has one vote.
2) With the importance of hit rating (almost 300 (295.1099) needed, according to Elitist Jerks, to not miss a lv 83 boss mob), 50 points (Accuracy on both weapons) would be a nice boost. Accuracy gets that vote also.

I understand the less visible benefits of agility (attack power, armor, etc) but, looking at it from a DPS point of view, the +crit and +hit must make Accuracy more than worth having.

Is that not the case? Following the same logic...

ISSUE 2: Chaotic Skyflare Diamond >> Relentless Earthsiege Diamond

Relentless Earthsiege Diamond: +21 Agility and 3% Increased Critical Damage
Chaotic Skyflare Diamond: +21 Critical Strike Rating and 3% Increased Critical Damage

... does the Skyflare not also trump the Earthsiege?

Re: both issues, why or why not?

Thanks.

1: check other thread, hitcap is 8%, not 9%.

2: Accuracy is the best enchant, I thought that that was common knowledge?

and 21 agi > 21 crit.
With ease, Agi scales with buffs, 21 agi is more than half the crit of 21 crit rating.

I did check the thread. It might be more accurate to say:
2) With the importance of hit rating (over 250 (263 (262.3199)) needed, according to Elitist Jerks, to not miss a lv 83 boss mob)

Yes, I thought that Accuracy looked nice.

I suppose it was late, but I read BRK (Big Red Kitty) drooling over Exceptional Agility enchants and so perhaps didn't have the presence of mind to do proper research.

That said, your statement that agility scales (something I remember from guilded raiding days) would suggest that it would be better to have agility. I tend away from that idea as, now being non-guilded, some groups are "like a box of chocolates."

Thoughts on a choice between the two gems?

Thanks.

(EDIT: It might be more accurate to say...)

21 agi gives 55% of the crit 21 crit rating gives.
21 agi gives 21 AP, which is 4.62 AP for your pet.
Crit has no benefit on your pet outside of dubious things like Cobra Strikes and GftT. (dubious as in dubious how much effect crit has on pet dps)

So it's the hit boost that makes "Accuracy [is] the best enchant" ?

How do you feel about meta gems?

No it's the fact that it's almost double the itemvalue of the agility enchants.
And I just said the damn meta gems..... Smiley: bah

EDIT:

I saw the numbers / values, but I did not mean to ask for those.

Numbers are one thing, but practical experience ("How do you feel about...") is entirely another.

Googling a related topic, I was reminded of tkasomething.

With a section devoted specifically to "Gear, enchants & gems", I found all the answers I could wish for.

Done.

Thanks.

I am glad you found other resources to check out things, that being said I agree and disagree with some things stated in this one. (Don't take this the wrong way Aeth, things are generalized in this thread)

1) Deleted from the valid points Xsar brought up and further investigation.

2) Your idea about Agi not being important in groups because of scaling- FALSE. Do you not get pugs with pallies or druids? Even though you don't have the full raid benefit, they are still scaling with those buffs. Agility not important for 5 mans? I do not know about you, but PuG's have made me appreciate it. There have been many times a PuG will pull multiple mobs or just tanks horribly and the extra dodge and armor is nice. It shouldn't be necessary- but that's another topic.

3) Meta gems... 21 AGI no matter what spec. There is a crit difference, but I think we all have read, wrote, heard about many threads discussing the importance of Agility- AP, Crit, Dodge and Armor. Like Aeth said it is also AP for our pet, 21 Crit just doesn't hold up. (If you want me to get into it further, just ask nicely- I am assuming we all know this topic by now.)

4) Read, post and READ replies. Aeth did a good job in answering your questions as they are read. If you meant something else then you have to explain that. Do not keep asking questions over and over. Do not get upset if we aren't answering your questions the way you wanted. If we aren't- reread your post see if there is a better way to explain what you want. This isn't a 7th grade blog- be an adult and responsible. I deal with 7th graders all day and I don't need that on the only forum I can access at work also.

1) Weapon enchants. In general accuracy is a ton better than agi. BUT it also depends on your build. For me... I'm survival spec (no drama on this I know as of now it's the red-headed step child hunter tree) with 3/3 Focused Aim, I will take Agi over accuracy. I am looking to stack Agi as much as I can- loosing out on 52agi isn't a good option.
focused aim does not currently carry over to your pet. Regardless, it's the most itemization points, so your argument isn't really valid. It would be better to get your hit through the enchant and then get gear without hit. You will be better off.

pugs don't matter though. Spec for raiding. Other then that the small differences don't matter.

Yea I know I was just stating that scaling still is important even if you are looking at only group runs.

Upon further investigation about FA, I agree with you. Every hunter should get the 8% for their pet. FA is kind of a worthless talent unless Blizzard does some type of fix to this "bug". It also seems like the pet hit cap is closer to 9%.

Always trust in Aethian. Aethian's gear guides have made me top dmg in 99% of the groups I'm in...by a longshot I might add. That and going into Naxx knowing for sure I'm not going to be a liability is always a good thing.
