Trying to be a Melee Hunter, What pet to get?Follow

#1 Nov 29 2008 at 1:35 AM Rating: Sub-Default
Ok, I'm working on a new Hunter, Going to try for a Draenei Hunter, Beast Mastery Spec. But I wanted to focus more and melee rather than ranged (granted I'm still gonna USE ranged heh) But my big question is. What kind of pet do I pick for this situation? I was thinking of going with a Tenacity pet, But I'm not sure yet, anyone have any tips or ideas what would work well with a Draenei?

Thanks in advance :D

Melee hunter.

Works as well as my resto tank.

For a pet use the one Blizz gave for their 4th anniversary.

All i can say is ?.

You have to be on a wind up or you should give up WoW , as Hunters are pretty useless at Melee.

If you think BM is the way to go then you are just a little crazy.

If you had said survival then we might have taken you a little more seriously , but as it is if you went survival and got a gorilla you might be able to survive getting to 80 .

Oddly, even my crappy gear generates about 500+ dps on a target dummy, that was at lvl 70 though.

We suck at melee but not as bad as we used to. I actually out dps'd a Paladin during a Kara run (trash mobs, just tried it out for fun.) My pet out dps'd ME by alot so we still suck.

I would guess you could do a melee centric build that did more damage and avoided more. Nobody would want to group with such a lightweight Hunter, but if it was for Role-Playing or just some odd solo-fun, I don't see the harm.

Please don't try to group with a melee Hunter unless the group is fully aware of your significant limitations. Also get used to your pet being more powerful than you in a fight. You'll also probably be primarily Survival but you might tap into some talents in MM and BM to help offset some of the crippling effects you are going for.

Make no mistake, Melee is NOT a hunter's cup of tea. We are a ranged class. If you are trying to make Aragorn, you'll do better in LOTR online.

For a pet, get a night elf with a bow.
