EDIT: Bah -- I had meant to post this in the WoW General forum... but I guess leaving the browser on the Paladin forum all the time causes some problems from time to time :D

*Those famouse first 5 words that everyone hates with passion*

"Is it just me, or....."

Has Blizzard's in-game customer service gotten much worse recently? I'm of course referring to the ticket-petition system. There was a time when I'd be contacted by a GM regarding tickets within a couple hours (for a long wait) and if the problem needed to be referred to a higher GM it would get resolved within another hour (or within 10 minutes if the first was able to handle it). Master Looter problems, profession mistakes, etc etc etc.

I've had an open ticket since the day I hit 80 (Sunday immediatly after launch) because a Blacksmith crafted a Brilliant Titansteel Helm for me with the mats I gave for a Tempered Titansteel Helm. He gave me the helm, opened his own ticket and I opened mine. He spoke to a GM the next day who said the problem would be fixed shortly, and I havn't even been contacted by a GM about it at all. Needless to say, a Brilliant Titansteel Helm is still sitting in my bags, 11 days after we contacted the GM.

Now, as I mentioned earlier, my previous experiences with petitions have been something along the lines of... As soon as it's "escalated" as Blizzard calls it.. it's resolved within an hour. Meanwhile I havn't been sent a PM or contacted in any way. At this point, I'm not too concerned about the helm anymore -- and the mats that make it up may be able to fetch a nice price but... it's not a big deal to me. No -- at this point I'd just like if they made some semblance of an attempt to even look at the issue.

Hopefully this is something that will clear up quickly, so the prompt and effective customer service I've always known and loved from Blizzard will return. I especially love how they've sent me a survey about how the GM handled the problem when I havn't even been contacted by one yet.

Blizzard's GM staff are absolutely swamped right now. I had a guildie who opened four GM tickets over the course of two days because he was pissed about a bug with daily quests (they don't appear to be converting xp to gold atm). I suggested to him that it's not something GMs are able to deal with aside from forwarding the information to the dev team and that opening more tickets wouldn't solve the problem, but he insisted that he needed to know right now what Blizzard was doing about it.

/facepalm

I'm not sure if Blizzard brought in more staff for the post-expansion onslaught of GM tickets that would be sure to ensue, but it would be six of one, half dozen of the other. Keep staffing about the same and have a dramatic spike in response time, or bring in a bunch of temps who don't know wtf they're doing and try to keep some semblance of order.

The expansion is still pretty much brand new. I'd suggest waiting 2-3 months before forming any opinions on Blizzard's customer service.
