Will a DK be your new main?Follow

As far as I can tell, at the present time, yes .. my DK is my new main.

My priest? (70) After years of healing, looking at charts, and missing most of the action, I've grown weary of it.

My hunter? (70) It doesn't seem like the same type of character that I started playing years ago. The new exotics seem more like pets on parade. The glass seems gimmicky to me now (my own personal opinion), and my level of enjoyment, sadly, has deflated.

My mage? (71) Still possibly in the running. She will probably pave the way on my learning curve through Northrend, as I observe the tanking in those instances.

But I have to say that my DK has taken the top spot in terms of fun factor.

Currently yes. Though my hunter will always be...well my hunter. DK once I get the hang of things will deff be my new main. Gotta get his profs leveled though. My hunter is my money maker so I will still farm like crazy with him and will eventually get him to 80. Currently 72. But fun factor will deff have to swing towards dk. Going on a HF ramps later today once I fill my belly full of turkey goodness!

Hunter > 80
Shaman > 71.5
DK > 59

And I think it will remain like this.
My Hunter being my main, Shaman first alt and DK second alt.

For the moment yes. It's new and shiny. But my interests are fickle and I'll go back to my druid soon enough. Already I catch myself thinking when something bad (ie generally death) happens "That just wouldn't have happened on my druid." though part of that is unfamiliarity with the new class.

What seems might happen is that I'll respc my druid for healing and the DK can tank. If I continue to level my hunter, I'll have everything I need :>

See, that never happens on my DK. I always end up thinking, "wow, I could never do this on my rogue".

DK has a more open playstyle than a rogue does, hence it capturing my interest.

I've made a DK on each of my two servers, and both have taken back seats. Mostly because I love my pally and am leveling him up to start tanking end game. On my other server my mage is getting most of my play time still (as she's already in the 70s), but I see me shooting up my DK so I can tank there too. Something about having things pound on me without dying just makes me happy.

No my new death knight will not be my main. My death knight will be my mining *****.

I dropped mining on my prot warrior to pick up blacksmithing and I don't won't to level a character from 1-80 just to mine so my death knight will do it.

Defintely, I'm enjoying every moment I play my DK, more than I do with my hunter.

My DK is just a killing machine, and far outstrips my hunter and paladin in terms of hitting power and durability, I dinged 69 last night and am tearing through mobs and quests in the Borean Tundra, Three mobs, four mobs? No problem. At 61 I was killing the undead spider-thingies, solo, outside Valiance keep just for the fun of it.

I've never had to sit and eat, or even use a potion/bandage. Heck, my Runic Power is at 100% virtually permanently, so I use it up just to see the pretty lights :D

I may as well enjoy it before they nerf the class. Why would they nerf it? Because this much fun is just wrong, heh.

Level 73 DK and loving it. I have a 70 rogue, and 70 paladin, but both have taken back seat to my DK. Its a new class, im one of two DK's in my guild actively leveling (everyone else has a DK but prefer their mains). I'm really enjoying the things i can do with it that like theo said i couldnt do on my Rogue. And my paladin was holy throughout most of his career (guild needed another healer...Smiley: frown).

And its great when classes try to kite me, and i lock them down with a death grip, chains of ice, Strangulate combo, and beat them with my big axe.

My main is still my priest, although she is shadow for leveling right now. Then my druid tank, then hunter. Although I do love my DK, he just has no place in my guild right now.

The only thing that's even keeping me playing my DK as an alt right now is the concept of the class. Plate armor, large 2H sword, unholy and frost damage... I really like the idea of it. Unfortunately, I really hate the way it comes across in the style of play. The class feels hyper-mechanical to me; every time I start laying into a mob I feel like I'm running some kind of assembly line. I'm so preoccupied with micro-managing three different mechanics simultaneously (diseases, runes, and runic power) while prioritizing, making judgement calls, and trying to hit the right button every 1.5 seconds, and that's not even taking into account any extraneous factors... I don't even really get the chance to actually appreciate what I'm doing and what's going on around me.

78 dk
71 hunter
70 lock
61 shaman

this dk will be here to stay. it is so much more fun than my hunter. so much less micromanagement, i.e, not worrying about out damaging my pet, not having to feed my pet (even though i have the glyph of mend pet, that does not do the job enough), not having to worry about arrows. i feel like i can actually last in pvp settings now.

i can actually get into groups a lot easier now, as a tank.

Yeah my DK is my new main. I have a Ret Paladin and a Warlock both at 70, and the DK beats them both for fun factor. Since I never want to reroll one of the stupid faceroll classes the devs love so much (and Warlocks havent been that for nearly two years) the DK provides the closest thing. I was considering going Retadin, but having seen that they are exactly the same at 80 as 70 just with greatly reduced burst and no additional tools, I thought I'd just let it go.

As for Gaudion's micromanagement complaint, I do sort of agree, but it's FAR less micromanagement than a Warlock. Just to succeed as a raiding Warlock you had to keep in mind three to four out of sync DoT timers, as well as trinket timers, panic button timers, GCDs, debuff timers, cooldowns... and the devs are only adding more. With a DK I need to ensure one thing alone; keeping my Diseases ticking. If I can manage that, Im safe. On the subject, I genuinely believe diseases should have a base duration of 18sec, without the Unholy talent its really hard to keep them up on a target without Gaudion's micromanagement problem coming into play.

I definitely agree. I can't imagine not having Epidemic.

Neither can I, and as it stands currently I would make allowances for Epidemic in any DK build I put together. Blood, Frost, loss of DPS... I don't care. Without epidemic the class really would be unbearable and I would likely put it down for good.
