leveling specFollow

so i finally tore myself away from fooling around with a DK (thought id earn some rested on my priest)and headed to Howling fjorde.Jaysee is a deep holy spec wearing T4/5 gear.I also have a prot warrior who i am thoroughly enjoying playing in the new content.

Most of you may sympathise when i mention the fact that my priest is going very slowly, mana being of source my main concern.

What im hoping to establish is if respeccing to shadow in my current gear is viable now that its under the 'spell damage' banner. Now i would normally play around on something like Warcrafter or Chardev but they arent working for me at the moment.(im at work so logging into wow and just respeccing isnt an option)

Finally im also looking at a fairly deep disc build 36/23/2 to level with instead of the full shadow, but need some convincing.I leveled to 70 as shadow and loved healing 5mans and then shadowforming at the end to the suprise of the group

I'm still leveling Holy, but my leveling build has maxed out Spirit Tap. I also put 17 points in Disc and gave up some healing talents in favor of the traditional lolsmite talents. I never run out of mana or need to drink while questing. I also can't be killed unless I do something really, really stupid.

I did respec Shadow for a couple of days just for fun, and although it was more efficient, it wasn't so much so that I felt it was the only option anymore. It was a lot of fun, as Shadow generally is. But since I like to focus on healing and feel comfortable with the Holy playstyle, I just went back to that. And yes, my Holy/healing gear was fine with the Shadow spec. Not great - lacking in hit and crit, for example - but perfectly serviceable. Either way you're focusing on Spellpower and Spirit, so they mix well.

A formerly Holy guildie of mine leveled to 80 with a Disc build. He was the first in our guild to hit 80. He essentially AOE grinded with Holy Nova for most of the way, and he loved it.

So really, you can level any way you like these days (although Spirit Tap is key for any leveling build, IMO). All priests are winning priests. Smiley: nod

Edit: by "maxed out" Spirit Tap, I mean just the 3 point regular one. It's really nice that it's only 3 points now. I kind of want to find a way to keep it until the dual spec thing happens, just for farming and dailies.

You can go shadow to level ...

OR

You can spec something like: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=bVcbuhhdrhZsxt0cbqbZh
Spirit tap is surely there. In holy, there are all the talents you need to do damage and keep yourself alive (renew is all you need). In disc.. you can switch Imp PW:S with Silent Resolve if you want to heal instances (although, not really needed). You don't really need full mental agility (you never run out of mana). Next things to do: max Enlightenment (stamina, spirit and haste) and then Mental Strength. The last 5 points are up to you: Spiritual healing if you'll do lots of instances, Reflective shield to improve pw:s even more. You could also put points in Absolution, especially if you have the glyph of dispell (6% max life heal from dispell). Or, you can get Improved SW:P to AoE grind with SW:P and Holy Nova (mana intensive, but you get it back from spirit tap).
