Tanking - Holding aggroFollow

This is my first tanking character that I'm focusing my time on. Unfortunatly, since most DK's are grouping with other DK's at this point, the aggro is going everywhere.

I'd like to know how to hold aggro in a regular group, especially before I encounter a regular group so I don't ***** it up. Anyone have any general tips on this? Right now I'm specced Unholy. I'm assuming the answer would be how a paladin holds aggro with AOE, but a DK version. Frost presence. Hitting and spreading disease. Not really sure how to maintain the highest amount of threat though.

I'm Unholy as well and I tank a lot. You can see my build in the thread I started lower down the page.

Icy Touch > Plague Strike > Pestilence > Blood Boil > Death Strike > Unholy Blight

Switch target and repeat, using Death Coil as an RP dump in place of Unholy Blight unless it needs refreshed.

I never have a problem holding aggro with this rotation unless people are hitting things out of the kill order.

Good luck, have fun!

That seems pretty straight forward. Thank you. I was also wondering about weaving in things like Horn of Winter, Icebound Fortitude (both towards the end of a boss fight?), and especially death and decay - since it states that it is a high threat generating spell.

Can we use death and decay on multipile mobs at the start of a pull to grab the initial aggro?

Holy hell. I just found my answer in that post.

Ok! I will learn to read. :)

I have only started to tank, and from what I have found, as long as i do the following, everything stays to me:

(first off, be in frost presence)
death and decay (it is an aoe and it causes a high amount of threat) -> icy touch -> plague strike -> pestilence -> blood strike. I will also throw in Scourge Strike when I can.

When i see my health start to drop, I try to hit Death Strike as often as I can. Icebound Fortitude is also used as well. When Death and Decay is not on cool down, I hit that. When I have at least 60 power, I hit up Unholy blight. I try to get as much threat as possible.

(The more I think about it, regardless of spec, DK's can make excellent tanks. If a mob gets past us and starts to wail on the healer, Death Grip it to us.)
