I'm currently tank specced but think my guild, which is now almost entirely DKs, will mainly want me to dps when I ding 80. I'm trying to puzzle out both an ideal raid dps spec and then a possible alternative that would allow me to tank heroics when not raiding.

Thoughts anyone? My ideas were:

1) DPS with some tank

2) Pure raid DPS

I would do this if I was too dps feral.

KotJ is a great cat talent, the instant energy is huge. BI has a negligible cat raid impact as the interrupt is only on a bear form ability and tanks get salty when you stun their mobs early on in a pull. TH and SI are more tank talents as you should only be taking AoE damage. PotP is also a tank talent and has no benefit to a cat.

RnT gets the full 5 as given a full raid any mob you are shredding should be bleeding either from one of your attacks or an attack someone else applies. I also like Genesis from Balance as it makes Rake and Rip do more damage. Full IW is also needed unless someone else in the raid will always bring the full debuff.

If I was to be tanking on occasion and dps'ing with the same spec (stupid dual specs not out yet) I would do more like this.

Now TH, SI, NR and PotP are needed. The points can't come from resto so Genesis goes first then it is a shuffling of talents in feral. PI is to sexy for cat form so KotJ takes a point hit. SA goes next then ILotP. Again IW is only needed if you are counted on for the debuff. So if those points weren't needed they could be put back into SA and KotJ.

The tank talents would take some precedent as it would be more important to able to do that at a better level than DPS. Of course if you mean for o-shat times then just having TH, PotP and SotF, which you will have anyway, would be fine.

My 2 cents.

Lol, my raid dps spec didnt link correctly, I think that's a full tank spec I was playing with.

For some reason I can't see your link (it's not working on my computer) but I was going 4/5 Genesis and 5/5 RnT. I also went for NS/MS over KotJ but perhaps I should revisit that.

I like ILotP in both tank and dps because those extra 4% heals are nice for me (in 5-mans) and for the raid over a long boss fight.

OK, switched computers and now your links work. And hopefully I will now link to the correct build I am proposing for dps:

I took BI just because I needed to fill out the tree for the next tier, ditto SI. I guess what it comes down to is, is KotJ better than Master Shapeshifter?

Also, curious why you put one pt in IMotW and 4 in Furor.

80 energy plus 1 gcd == ~100 energy
