I'm undecided on this so far. Until I see how it is implemented, I'm not sure how it will compare to bear swipe. It'll be nice to aoe without the extra threat that bear brings. I'm not sure if it will comparable to bear swipe though since it is endlessly spamable with enough crit and targets, while cat swipe will most certainly not be as spamable.
It will not be spammable just because of the energy cost. At 40 (my guess) energy even with the new regen a cat swipe spam will not be sustainable at a bear spam rate.
It is just to help a bit with AoE situations. I mean mages, locks and boomkins; maybe ele with their changes, will still be the AoE kings but now we wont be as useless in those situations.

Seeing the Swipe (Cat) post just made my morning. I was getting on the rave about getting Savage Roar last night and now this. Making me love my kitty even more. I agree with Horse that it won't be as spamable as Swipe (Bear) do to energy cost. Wonder if it will give a combo point on any or all of the swipees. wouldn't that be something. Swipe three or four targets and get a combo point of each.

As a tank however, I admit that all my experiences in LK dungeons so far have been exactly the same - swipe swipe swipe while the entire group AoE them down. I don't even bother marking half the time, everything falls dead roughly at the same time anyway. I use mangle on single targets such as bosses. I could use a bit more challenge, but I'm not complaining since I'm running PuGs and most of the guys I have been in group so far would not have been able to follow a kill order anyway.
I'm pretty sure change will come soon. If you read Ghostcrawler's comments about the massive AoE instance grinding going on, you can tell it was not planned for us to do things that way. And if it keeps going that way into heroics and raid, there will be changes. It's supposed to be a tool among others, not the only way to compete.

as far as im aware, savage roar increases total AP. increasing just base AP would make it a pretty poopy skill.

Get ready to start CC'ing again in heroics, at least until you all have heroic/Naxx gear. Those mobs hit harder :)

Confirmed. I just dinged 75 last night and greatly enjoy seeing my 3500 AP boosted to 4900...pop a trinket and its 5k AP, baby!
As for the AoE ease of life now I have stopped using my Idol of Terror and switched to Idol of the Wastes.
The proc is almost always up. Stuff dies so fast the extra damage is way better than the agility proc.

Without doing any math to prove it, I think the idol from venture coins (Idol of Perspicacious Attacks) is probably better for AoE threat.
Edit - yeah, the 61 strength only adds about 9 damage to Swipe if what I read (Swipe getting 7% of AP as damage) is correct.
