What numbers are needed for an 80 bear?Follow

#1 Nov 24 2008 at 11:08 AM Rating: Decent
I should be dinging 80 tonight and while my guild will be catching up with me over the next week or two I'd like to try to figure out what I need to work on in the mean time.

What should my dodge, armor and health be at (SoF made DEF moot thankfully) and as a LW, should I invest in any of the stuff I can make that has resilance in it (I know that's traditionally a PvP stat but is it worth considering now)?

And of course, any suggestions on instances, quests or factions to look at that can help with gear are obviously appreciated.

I think I heard something about resilience only working against other players, but I have no idea where. If that is the case, you would probably be better off not wasting the mats for craftable resilience gear.

I think I've seen lots of people say they've heard that resilience only works against other players, and have never seen anybody post a source. I think it is a misunderstanding based on the fact that resilience is primarily a PvP stat. I know for a fact resilience reduces chance to be crit by NPCs/Mobs as that was a key part of achieving crit-proofness as a bear back before SotF took care of that for us on its own. I don't see why the reduction of DoT and mana drain effects would be any more "players only" than that.

I myself tend to trust wowwiki, and nothing on the resilience page that I can see says anything about resilience only reducing incoming damage from other players: "Resilience is a character attribute that reduces the chance to receive critical strikes or spell critical strikes, reduces the effect of mana drain spells, reduces the damage taken from critical strikes and spell critical strikes, and reduces the damage taken from damage over time effects."

You don't have any need for resilience as you can not be crit due to SotF. Two quests for good rewards are those inside UP, you can pick them up the second you walk inside and involve killing the final boss and picking up random stuff scattered along the path towards final boss. Also, CoT:Strath has a very nice glove reward for a quest to kill the final boss. I'd suggest looking up the AH for blues as well, yesterday I bought a neckpiece with 294 armor and some other stats for about 100G.

As for factions, the Kiron Tor have some nice legs and a staff available at revered. The staff has 315 armor so its no the best right now, but once the patch comes along and changes druid armor it will probably be fairly competitive. Not sure about your gear, so I can't recommend whether or not to do heroics. You will also want to get your rep with some other faction which I don't remember to get your head enchant.

In regards to LW you can make a really nice epic cape at 440 skill, its BoE. It doesn't have extra armor, but once again it will be very nice once they change how druid armor works.
