Help with holyFollow

#1 Nov 23 2008 at 9:55 AM Rating: Default
I was considering lvling 70-80 holy instead of ret. Why? Because my guild has a total of 1.5 healers ( ele shaman as the .5) and ill always be able to get into dungeoons this way. The question i have is How much has healing changed since the ZA patch? Also how long would it take me to get a fairly good healing set in Northrend. good being quested blues and greens. I dont want to buy anything since i just lvled engineering 1 to 350 and i am kinda broke. So any help would be apprieciated. Also any talent builds.

from what i've heard pally healers are lvling slow but if you group alot it could be worth it. as for a build hmm i'm far from holy on any toon but i would say at lvl 70

maybe something like

but i would say toss someinto holy and rest into ret to heal instances. i think it's like before as long as you have gear you dont have to be speced untill heroics so this might work.

but that is leading more to the holy side still.

Holy pally leveling is painful, doable but honestly tack another hour onto each level, which is another 5-6 (probably more) hours to get to 80 than the next guy. Know a couple people who did it and they all hated it. Personally I leveled Ret and a few times from Nexus to Drak Keep and beyond I just through on my healing gear and off specced healed the instances. To be fair I had SWP healing set, but basically it wasnt too bad.

I agree with Bodhi about the leveling time - I've been switching between holy and ret, and holy is about an hour more per level, which is still a lot better than it was in the old days. The more quest-intensive the area the quicker it goes, of course.

I'll hit 75 tonight, and I haven't replaced any of the main (weapon/armor) pieces of my T4/badge set, just necklace/cloak/rings, and those were primarily instance drops and instance quest rewards. I'm starting to see some world quest rewards late in Dragonblight that make me think, but I don't expect to replace any core pieces until Zul'Drak.

As for healing offspec, it's certainly possible and Blizz has made it a goal that it should continue to be during leveling, but I'll still respec (for the practice if nothing else - healing as Ret feels like 2.4, and my style is different now). I know that the final boss in Nexus would have been a nightmare without the HS/Infusion combo.
