ok, ive been wanting to level a healy specced class for a while and ive settled on either a holy pally or resto shammy, now for some reason everyone i ask says shammy because its better than pally OR pally because its better than shammy. now i like both classes but im trying to figure out which one i would enjoy more, so i wanted some tips or anything that help in my decision, i plan on raiding with it once i get 80, if that helps any. (this will also be posted on paladin forums)

thanks, and happy hunting!

First of all kudos for wanting to heal, not enough people do (me included).

As far as the two classes go Pally is the best single target healer. If you take a Pally you will most likely be assigned to one of the main tanks and spend your raids spamming flash of light.

Shaman is a bit more hybrid, they can focus heal a tank but will more likely be assigned to keeping a group of dps (probably melee_ up by spamming chain heal.

It really depends what you want to do. Also keep in mind that as a Paladin you are also a viable Tank or DPS but as a Shaman it is heals or DPS only.

If you are going to primarily heal, a lot of people choose shamans because they think it is more interesting to chain heal melee dps than it is to single target heal tanks in high end raid content. Although they have different healing roles, both classes are needed as raid healers at 80. If you are going to spec for healing as you level, a pally would be more a useful tank healer in level appropriate instances (although shaman single target heal very well).
