Hello again Hunters, haven't been around to drive you guys/girls nuts in months so I figured I would pop back in to make sure everybody is still alive. Like so many, with the released of the new expansion, I'm making some plans to return. I haven't bothered looking at any sample builds yet (I really prefer to make one myself first to try and avoid cookie-cuttering) and would love to get some ideas from people.

Minimum Required Level: 80
Required Talent Points: 71
Beast Mastery Talents - 57 point(s)

Endurance Training - rank 5/5
Focused Fire - rank 2/2
Thick Hide - rank 3/3
Aspect Mastery - rank 1/1
Unleashed Fury - rank 5/5
Improved Mend Pet - rank 2/2
Ferocity - rank 5/5
Spirit Bond - rank 2/2
Intimidation - rank 1/1
Bestial Discipline - rank 2/2
Animal Handler - rank 2/2
Frenzy - rank 5/5
Ferocious Inspiration - rank 3/3
Bestial Wrath - rank 1/1
Catlike Reflexes - rank 3/3
Serpent's Swiftness - rank 5/5
Longevity - rank 3/3
The Beast Within - rank 1/1
Kindred Spirits - rank 5/5
Beast Mastery - rank 1/1

Marksmanship Talents - 12 point(s)
Lethal Shots - rank 5/5
Careful Aim - rank 3/3
Improved Hunter's Mark - rank 2/3
Go for the Throat - rank 2/2

Survival Talents - 2 point(s)
Hawk Eye - rank 2/3

I really wanted to get an extra point into Hawk Eye, but I'm just not sure where to pull the point from honestly. An extra one into Improved Hunter's Mark would have been nice also, but not nearly as important. There were also, of course, some other talents in the BM tree I wish I could have gotten to but...the build was tight as is to get what I wanted out of Marksman. I dunno, any opinions on my build? I don't really want to be told exactly what I should have :) Afterall, whats the fun of playing other peoples builds? But knowing if I picked up any useless powers, or missed any that make your life infinately better, would be nice to know.

I plan on using a Ferocity pet, if that matters at all.

Just looking at it quick, I have no idea if this is for PvE, PvP, or what.

Raiding wise, Focused Fire>Thick Hide, and you don't need Hawk Eye. MM should have Lethal and Mortal Shots, and GftT. You don't need Animal Handler now that hit is transferred to pet, and the point you have in Beast Mastery is best used elsewhere. Try making your spec on wowhead, and just linking it to us. It would be way easier to critique.

Edit: This is the cookie cutter BM build. It is meant to provide the most DPS, and to be used as a standard. You shouldn't really be straying too far off from it, but then again, you can play the game how you like.

I've been gone so long I forgot about WoWhead :P

Anyway, I did some modifying based on your suggestions. I've never played Cookie Cutter builds and never will honestly, If I lose spots in groups because of that so be it, I refuse to play the game somebody elses way.

As far as what this build is for, it's for general PvE grinding/grouping with my fiance. To me at least, getting the extra 4 points for my pet talents is a must, as well as the option to tame exotic pets. I play hunters for my pets afterall.

As far as not needing animal handler, if accuracy bonuses are easier to get for a pet than your definately right. I'm not up to speed with all the new mechanics changes yet.

If you want to play the game your own way, that's fine. Cookie cutter specs are as they are because they're the best, though. By not using them, you're effectively less than the best; and any advice a forum is going to give you will be advice on how to improve, rendering feedback rather pointless.

In short, being an individual for that purpose and no other is pointless. Being an individual because you have different goals and prefer a different playstyle is absolutely fine, however. You need to decide which you're doing, and then what build you want will be easy to come up with.
