I never realized how awesome slow fall was until I got the glyph and started abusing the spell in the new expansion zones. There are tons of great places to cast a slow fall, mount up, and take a leap. Try it some time when you're way up on a peak. It's pretty funny how fast you travel horizontally whilst you're slowly descending...
I'm quite a fan of slow fall, don't have the glyph yet but I have a good stock of feathers to burn through.
I was exploring Howling Fjord and trying to get an island for the last part of the achievement (which turned out to be nowhere near where I was looking), so I'm at the top of this cliff and figure I'll jump off and slow fall down.
So I'm floating gently down and I notice some huts that I'm heading towards... that's ok I think, I should miss them. Keep floating down and angry murlocs start popping up on screen - I managed to slow fall into a whole camp of them :(
Not sure if I hadn't healed up before jumping, or if I took fall damage, but I ended up getting ganked by undead murlocs, so my short cut turned into a graveyard run.
Moral of the story - look before you leap.

It would be great if you could change direction or choose to fall straight down. As much as I hate the corpse run I laugh my head off whenever I do something like Tynuv. Expecially when I am running away from a mob, see the cliff ahead and think "so long sucker" only to land in a group of other mobs that are feeling somewhat obliged to finish me off!

Sometimes if you blink while slow falling you can change direction or even hit land faster. i know its saved me from some mobs sometimes
Ooo, blink while slowfalling! I've never done that! Have to try it today! Cuz gods know I've landed in a ton of mobs before! :)
If you blink while slow falling it stops your forward momentum and you fall straight to the ground. Also, if you see a group of mobs you're likely to run into, pop invisibility. As long as you don't take any damage when you land (like if slow fall runs out) then you got 15-20sec to run away!

I would have gone with: Always have a plan B(and a health potion). Like Dragon's Breath and Invis, or Insta invis for those Arcane types. Or Water Elemental, Invis and run like hell.
Or my new favorite: Mirror Image + Invis.
Gotta love slow-falling off the purple parlour balcony. Heh, being the only high level mage in our (small, social) guild, I constantly get light feathers being sent to me by guildies and their alts. They think they're doing me a favour, so I haven't the heart to send them back ... as a result, I always have about 100 on me, and I have a light feather alt with bank slots and bags full of light feathers ... as a result, I abuse, and I abuse it a lot ...
Must get the glyph though ... 5 slots is really a lot of bag space when you run out and can't decide which stack of vendor trash worth 5 gold to throw away :-(
Just can't bring myself to pay the 50g that scribes are asking for it on my server.

Long story short I burnt up my hearth to dragonblight and then ported to Dalaran to do Wintergrasp. WEll got there about 2 minutes late and it was over. Anyways I used slow fall and a well calculated jump off Dalaran and landed right at the Troll camp in Dragonblight (the one you summon the dragon in).
I hardly ever used it other then in AB to get from LM to BS or BS to GM quickly before I got it reagent free.
