Hi ppl, I was just looking at my pet talent tree last night and i noticed i never take cobra reflexes. My question is if I take CR does that mean my pets thunderstomp attack will have a 30% reduction against the 10 sec cool down , or are they just talking about basic attacks?
#2 Nov 18 2008 at 6:44 AM Rating: Decent
As far as I'm aware it's only white damage but that's a good question, If I have time tonight I'll test it out.

take cobra reflexes. It's a significant dps boost.

As for what it affects, I think kelnoen is right, and it only affects white damage.

What other damage would you want it to effect? All the other damaging abilities are on a GCD. As for the DPS boost i believe it is a 30% increase in pets dps.

*edit* Sorry didn't see the last part of your post. No, it will not effect the GCD or the cooldown of pet special abilities. To do that you need to be deep BM and get Longevity. Which will lower the cooldown of all your pets special abilities.

Thanks for the replies, kind of a shame it doesn't effect the GCD, i think i will pass this up for now as i have most of my points in armor, stam boosts on my pet. If i get a few more points ill try it out and see how it goes. Rinkkel thanks for pointing out longevity i already had it but only put 2 points in it, ill now put 3 as for whatever reason i thought it only effected TBW and Intimidate.

Thanks again

this.
Doing more dps > surviving longer.

Assuming that you know how to control a few mobs just going for the dps talents is the quickest way to blast through levels.

I have NOT been challenged by anything as of yet in LK, then again, I haven't left the Tundra. I've done more quests and killed more mobs than I recall doing at any other time and haven't gained a single level yet. Still 15% short.

It seems to me that the biggest obstacle to levelling is just the sheer amount of XP needed to level. That equates, to me anyway, to TaK (Time at Keyboard). LK has made me feel more like a servant to WoW than anything else they've ever done:

"Do this quest"...
"... Yes Master."
"Now do this quest..."
"... Yes Master."
"Now do these 30 other quests..."
"... Yes Master."
"You are still not worthy of a level... do these 30 other quests."
"... Yes Master."

No wonder why people want to just AOE grind out the XP... it's almost as mind numbing. I hope the game story picks up after I leave the Tundra. So far I'm a bit underwhelmed by it.

Just to stay on topic, I love Cobra Reflexes. It's a big boost.

I do miss Rapid Killing, that cooldown bonus on the rapid fire ability was so nice... not to mention, when grinding like this, I do far more target to target killing.

I ran Nexus 2 times and got 500k xp. At least level 70-71 was a breeze with very few quests and 2 nex runs. (which btw sucks for hunters, only one boss might drop a decent mail item we could use)

nothing until past lvl 75 drops anything I can use anyway :P

And yeah, doing some regular instancing seems to boost the XP by quite a bit. :)

Don't know what you are all talking about.
Leveling was rather fast. I leveled with a good friend (prot warrior) and it took us around 8 to 10 hours per level.
We took our time, did quests and some instances and it was a really good experience.
From 77 to 80 I leveled on my own and it took me ~5-6 hours per level.
The zones have an amazing design. Quests are really nice. I love those quests where I have to control a giant or an animal or a machine and stuff like that.
There is a quest which makes you bigger and stronger so that you can throw around big rocks. A lot of really good designed quests.
Leveling up from 60 to 70 was a lot more mindnumbing.

As for the items. I did not expect to replace a lot since I was in T6+ Sunwell Equip. Surprisingly I replaced some items while leveling. I got a new cloak around level 76 which was a ton better than my old cloak. There are quite some interesting trinkets and I replaced my gloves of the immortal dusk (best item in slot during BC) at level 78 with a blue instance drop.
At level 80 I have replaced nearly half of my gear already, including my beloved thoridal... (with a Naxx-10 epic). The amount of stats available on wotlk cloaks, necks, rings and trinkets is insance.

I would say Cobra is well worth it , more pet damage = more threat = less melee for me.

I am enjoying the Tundra but thats all i have seen as i have been levelling my new range of pets farming the Rhino herds , so far i have got 3 to my level and just 2 more to gowhen i am not levelling my alts .

From the little i have seen and heard about i will enjoy all the new content but i will be taking my time as i like to swap characters a lot.

I replaced some stuff too now.

My belt of the black eagle with.... a green.... Smiley: frown
58 Agi, 42 int, 66AP green that has better stats than instance blues of the same lvl (75, and for all I've seen)...
Other than that, I'm now dual wielding 2 Savage Cobalt slayer with +50AP.
My hourglass is replaced by a (ally only) sweet crit trinket.
And my vindicator's bracers have been replaced by a BoE blue pair.

Aside from that, I'm not very lucky with drops... >.> only seeing downgrades or caster gear.

Most people would consider that fairly slow, to be honest. I know sitting there for eight hours just to gain one level would draaaag for me.

I know it is slow, we took our time and it was a lot fun.
Hell, it is a addon. It should last you some while. The next will be around in 18 to 24 months I believe.
So if it takes a few hours to gain one level so what?
Currently I'm leveling my farm bot (a druid who is collecting herbs and ore). I level him solo and since I know a lot of quests it takes me around 4-5 hours per level (currently 72.1).
I don't think that you have to do too many quests and that it takes ages. And if you are taking your time you cut the needed XP with the rested XP bonus.

Actually, my complaint was more centerd on the pedestrian, SLOW and Boring nature of the story of the quests.

I thought I was going to see something more like the Aldor/Scryer interaction. Maybe even something getting more into the different 'sides' of the LK conflict.

Instead, we are stuck with interesting 'idea' groups who, once done with their quests, fade out to the next 'idea' group. They all sat around a table and cranked out these ideas rather nicely, I like bits of the lead-in to the groups, but then it just goes flat... I hope it picks up after the Tundra because right now... it's snoozeville. ATM, they have me hunting clams that rarely spawn and are in just a very small area. It really sucks. Of course, the swimming quests usually do.

Writers are always told to have a 'hook', a great lead-in to get your readers going and keep them on the line for the entire book. Some have told me it gets better, I hope so, but they clearly missed the hook and these kinds of quests should be intended for newer players, not 70+ lvl experienced players. We should be seeing more timed quests, ones where you have to use your brain. These find and seek, kill quests are a staple but for 10 levels?

In the end, I just think that so far, Blizz kinda missed the opportunity to really jazz up their storylines, and instead, we are stuck with a ton of quests that seem to have little goal beyond the end of your nose and leading you by said nose to next little quest chain. Compared to TBC, it feels... less.

You mean quest lines which really involve you? Such like raiding Undercity alongside a alliance force led by the king of stormwind? Or interacting with the Lich King at the end of some questlines?
There are some great quest lines in that game. And of course there are still a lot "kill x of stuff and loot y and bring stuff to z" quests.

If questing bores you currently try some instances. They are nicely done and a nice break in between questing sessions.

Borean really is pretty horrible, imo. Go to Howling Fjords. Way more entertaining, and way more interesting to look at.

Sorry Mulgrin, I'm not that far yet. It's sad that I have to wait until late 70's to actually get to the 'point'. Which only reinforces my point. I'll make it there someday, I was just hoping for something more ground breaking.

Yeah, Howling is next on my list. The Holiday's and company are really cutting into my WoW time...

No no, you don't have to wait till late 70ies.
There is a quest line in howling fjord at ~71 or 72 where you interact with the lich king in a rather funny quest series.
You see him again in utgarde keep at lvl 70-72.

The quest line which resolves into raiding undercity can be done at about 73-74.

And of course there are a lot of quest lines I have not done yet or that I have forgotten (I rushed leveling a bit; I will take my time on my deathknight alt in two or three weeks).

Well, I finally dinged 71 and have almost exhausted all the tundra quests... it's like pulling teeth!

So, it's heartening to know that I am in for some actual fun coming up. Thanks Mulgrin.
