Unholy DK Spell RotationsFollow

I might come off as an EJ in this, but I don't really care ^.^

I'd like to hear some of your spell rotations and to receive input from it.

I'll start with mine:

Death and Decay > Plague Strike > Pestilence > Unholy Blight > Blood Boil (if there are a lot of mobs)> Obliterate/Death Strike/CE/etc. Rinse and Repeat to keep all AoEs on CDs.

I can't wait to see end game AoE with this class...it's as if we we're made to be swarmed by a horde of mobs, I can literally take on 10 mobs 2 levels higher than me and completely exterminate them. I use the same rotation when doing these pulls but I include Icebound Fortitude and Bone Shield, and yes I most likely come out of the fight with 100% HP. Death Strike is the ****.

I'd like to hear some input and would like us to share our own spell rotations and give some reasons as to why we do it this way.

I still see a lot of DKs lacking in DPS when they shouldn't...let's see what's going on :D

Also, Am I seeing things or does Unholy Presence (at 70) really reduce our global cooldown by half a second?

good day

Against single target:

IT > PS > BS > BS > SS

Since I have 3/3 in Reaping, the next rotation is

SS > SS > SS

If I'm actually taking damage, I might replace any number of SS with DS instead.

As for AE grinding...

Your rotation is deeply flawed.

D&D = 20 rp
PS = 10/15 rp

You need 60 rp to use UB, you're short half... So what do you do?

See, while Death & Decay looks cool, it's actually a terrible ability for AE grind.

Do something like this:

Icy Touch (10) > Plague Strike (10/15) > Pestilence (10) > Blooboil (10) > Death Strike (20) > Unholy Blight

Death Strike helps too, because while AE grinding, you WILL be taking damage, so this takes care of that to a degree.

What you do from there is up to you, but keeping Frost Fever and Blood Plague on everybody is of the utmost important (So you will be keeping UT, PS and Pestilence in your rotations).

You also mention Obliterate here... a Unholy DK has no use for it (like, take it off your action bar) - Scourge Strike hit just has hard, as the same rune costs and doesn't take away diseases.

Still working mine out, so it's largely reactive.

IT > PS > BS > SS > BS (mob is usually dead. Otherwise I would probably alternate SS and BS using DS when necessary. I also have full Reaping so I'd use more SS than BS.

Against next mob (when I've built up some RP)

IT > PS > UB > SS > BS as above.

I havent really done any AoE grinding yet. It would probably be somewhat similar to my single mob fighting except I'd switch targets a lot to build RP for as many UBs as humanly possible. For proper AoE tanking (ie in a group) I'd want to open with DnD.

Yeah, I saw that - but I did not beleive it.

I will be able to spread my DoTs twice as fast at 70 >.>

I have to wait a while before using UB with your rotation while I can use D&D right off the bat. I need to experiment and see what happens for myself ><

Tonight I will respec, there are a few talent points that need to be re-invested and replaced.

Thanks for your inputs

Plague Strike should come first if you have Desecration and you're already within range. If you're out of range then Icy Touch first and the CD should be about up by the time you get in range for a Plague Strike.

I agree Mental, but since this is an attempt to 'AE grind', the extra range of icy touch is invaluable.

I usually have my ghoul attack a mob, leap to a 2nd, while I body pull one, death grip another and icy touch the 5th.

UB + Frost Fever + Blooboil vs Death & Decay... you lose out on damage my friend.

You also lose out on Death Strike's healing.
