Ghoul is taking it's sweet time to show itselfFollow

To all those fellow Unholy DK's..

Is it just me, or does the "ghoul rising from the grave" animation takes too long after dismounting?

Ill mount up, ghoul fades away just like all pet classes, but when I spot a mob and dismount to send ol' sparky on over, im stuck waiting for him to casually tear his way up out of the ground for a few seconds.

Dont get me wrong, its a fun little animation (nice touches bliz) but its affecting combat.

Visually, it's a very nice little element, I agree. I haven't noticed it affecting my combat but that's probably because I tend to initiate things myself and then have my pet join me a second later. I do understand what you mean though. The pet bar is grey for a second or two, while the ghoul emerges from the ground so there is that pause.

I guess you could just attack your first target yourself, after dismounting, and then send the pet in first for all subsequent battles, once you're in the groove of things in one area. Maybe they'll change it eventually or maybe it's just a mechanic we'll get used to in our Death Knight careers.

I'm ok with it to be honest. I have noticed it, but I'm the primary damage dealer. I see my ghoul as an added DoT and the rising up is it's cast time.

Two quirks it has that do mildy irritate me (and I do mean mildly) are the fact that when I Death Grip an opponent, it leaps over to where the mob used to be, then runs back. Although if I'm honest, this amuses me as much as it annoys me.

The other is when you dismount to craft some bandages or whatever, the ghoul rises up literally on top of you, but this is a minor thing really.

All in all, I'm liking my ghoul. Although is anyone else getting them killed repeatedly just so they can spawn another one to see if they can get a sillier name? My favourites so far have been Dirtface and Brainhead.

I have mixed feelings as well.

I love the animation, but while power-leveling a gathering profession (as many DKs will be doing), it would be nice if he could actually defend me right when I dismount and hit a node =/
(just annoying really)

Maybe they could make the pet "active" faster (the pet bar is greyed out during the animation), and make other actions override the animation?

I like the animation enough I would rather have that and sacrifice a couple seconds. One of the things I did do is turn my pets leap off because I have had him leap into combat with other mobs on the edge of the aggro range of the mob I had death gripped.

Yes it's hella annoying, especially in PvP, but I doubt it will change.
