Cinematics and RPG'sFollow

I posted this on WOW forums and on General Forums here, but since you are my closest brethren I thought I would ask you opinions on this as well.

The one thing I think WOW lacks out of any other MMORPG or RPG is Cinematics. I mean WOW/Blizz does add many things to the gaming mentality and blows all other MMORPGS or RPS's in my opinion out of the water for many reasons, but where are my beloved cinematics so common in RPGs. With the launch of WOLTK there may be some hidden Gem out there to satisfy the point of this post, but I doubt it. Cinematics to me were always one of the best things ever in a game and at times of completion in game you get an extra sense of "I accomplished this" and here is a visual representation to further satiate and drive your lust for advancement and conquest. With all of the new talk (mostly Ooohs and Aaaahs over the upped textures or whatever they did to make Northrend look so good) on all the work Blizz has spent on WOTLK I am sure I will be happy with my playtime for a good while to come but I thought I would address this now for up and coming expansions which I am sure there will be.

Cinematics would be amazing at the end of a dungeon boss and I envision a sweeping camera flying from the beginning of the dungeon past all the dead NPC's you vanquished ending up at your party (of course wow would calculate the characters and gear in the party in to each video so you actually see you and your party standing over the boss) standing over the end boss as he/she dies dramatically and possibly utters some last words. This would be extra amazing if there were quest line related comments or the like and I could see way more repeat playability on dungeons if you get and end cinematic. Special timed runs could possibly trigger special side videos or maybe specific in dungeon quest progressions would have to be completed in order to cue the cinematic.

I have come to the end of more than one dungeon going "Was that it, what happened?" and then running outside with a semi-feeling of gratification without knowing if I left something or someone behind that I should have killed or if I indeed did kill the "Big Baddy." If the only Cinematic in game is going to be at the end of the game (when eventually the end may or may not happen after some more expansions in the years to come. Rumoured two more after WOLTK from what I have read) I would be sorely disappointed. Hopefully in the next expansion in the years to come (I am sure they will have more to keep us clicking away) Blizz will consider this extra "epic" feeling you get after watching a cinematic valuable to their gamers satisfaction. I am sure they can afford it! ]=)

I am not sure if I am "biting the hand that feeds me" a new expansion but dont get me wrong this is not a flame, just constructive thoughts that I think would dramatically improove my personal gameplay and sense of accomplishment in it. Especially at the end of Dungeons and more epic group quests where you really have to fight.

Can YOU imagine watching a video of you and your party cutting down the last boss you just struggled to wipe out? I think so!

Thank you for reading.

If anyone knows of any IN-GAME cinematics that dont include the log in page, please let me know. I do know of one in Sunwell that is clickable, but this is not waht i would consider an achievement cinematic. It is more of an overview of the area.

One of my guildies got a cut scene during a quest chain he was doing last night. No idea where or which chain it was, but I look forward to doing it myself. :)

The WotLK cinematics are integrated...they aren't of the same rendered quality as the intro cinematics, but the DK starting area is full of them and I've already seen one in Borean Tundra (immediately before and after the "Last Rite" quest). Blizzard said a while back that they wanted to integrate more storytelling into Wrath than we've seen in TBC and so far, they've delivered.

I belive when you are fighting Illidan there is a scene where Maiev comes and joins the fight. I agree that if there was cinematics in raids/instances it would make me much more interested in PvE.

Nothing that good in the Illidan fight i'm afraid - just a scrpited bit where Maev turns up - no cinematic.

Fordragon quest chain in Dragonblight has a cinematic, and by far one of the absolute coolest quest chains I have ever done. I won't go into details to spoil it because yes... It's beyond awesome.

To the OP: It sounds like you want to see cinematics like there were in Diablo, Diablo II and Diablo II Exp. Those had amazing cinematics.

Or my personal favorite one ever, the final cinematic in FF7 after the credits roll with Red running with his cubs. Amazing.

As a big Fan of all the FF games (until they went online) I have to say that Square Soft does the best cinematics I have ever seen.
All of the Final Fantasies were good times and although none were near as epic as WOW, I still miss the cut scenes and cinematics.

All in all I am just happy to hear that some made it in to WOTLK.

Cant wait to get out there and see them.

Thanks for the comments.
