Well, Northrend is awesome.

Barely done any quests but the few I did where around Valgarde, reached by the boat in Menethil Harbor. They were mostly right out of the gate, literally. As the intro quests have you doing stuff within spitting distance of the town.

They had one where you go in the ocean and get a purse, near that one is another guy who wants you to get crates. Aquatic form allows you to skin mobs and loot quest items. Plenty druid win there. Some non-druids seemed to have air tubes leading to the surface. Either way the graphics are sweet.

My friend and I think that they have more polygons now. Well the Northrend stuff at least. As a side not when I started I was in Graverath, I mean Shatrath. It is empty there now. Everyone was either portaling to IF/SW or under level 68. Was startling to be honest.

One of the early rewards is this druid staff. Forget the quest but is one of the first ones you must do to unlock more quests. Haven't seen any other druidy items but haven't had to much play time as I worked late tonight. Didn't notice any caster leather but again wasn't able to quest much.

Had said I would do UK. I lied; did the Nexus instead. Was plenty fun. Has many bosses with interesting fights.

One golem-esque guy,Ormorok the Tree-Shaper, is a tank and spank except he does this icicles through the ground thing you must avoid. If not you go flying for a bit. :)

Another boss lady,Grand Magus Telestra, after a point turns into 2 boss ladies that you must kill. She then returns as one lady that you must kill. I think the fight will be hard as heck on heroic but wasn't that bad on regular. Three phases on an entry level boss is a very nice fight.

The Anomalus fight has boss and burn phases. It starts as a boss, he turns into balls, then goes boss again. The balls die fast so is more a matter of reflexs than anything but still a fun fight.

The last boss is a dragon encased in ice. You have to clear everything before fighting her. Keristrasza has a tail swipe and occasionally spits at folks without aggro. If you don't move you get a nasty debuff. So you have to jump to lose it or kite her around. A simple rocking motion by the tank will accomplish this for the tank at least.

The instance was about Bot length but with less bosses and more spread out. Not BRD big by any means but longer than the typical Outland instance. Well now that I think about it we had a chicken spec'd healer till the last boss so my guess may be off. CC was not really needed as the group had been at 70 for a bit or was level 71-71.

Maybe gained around 250k experience running Nexus at level 70. The first bit might have been rested. The few quests I turned in gave big xp, like 20k. So while 1.5m seems daunting I don't really think it is that bad. Any way I have to go bed have work in the morning. Luckily since I have been working a lot this week I should get out super early and be able to start questing again and exploring Northrend.

Thanks, Horse! This satiated my WLK thirst for a little bit. You're not the only person that mentions improved graphics, that wasn't something I was expecting and I look forward to it.

That staff, in context of the fact that we don't need def rating and armor will be stripped from weapons soon, has me very glad I didn't get to the "eyes bleeding" part of grinding CE rep for Earthwarden. : )

JeeBar, if you can started in Howling Fjord its much much better than Borean Tundra, it doesn't look like a nuclear wasteland.

Agreed, Northrend is AWESOME!

Horsemouth is right, almost all the trainers (some are elsewhere) are right in the beginnings town right off the zepplin (or boat if you're alliance). And the beginning quests get you really into it by having you jump right into the war with the scourge that's litterally on your doorstep.

Both areas have starter quests that have decent druid staffs, Hungering Greatstaff (armor, expertise), Writhing Longstaff (Agility,Stam) and the one he linked (Strength,Stam). Personally I prefer the Writhing to the others.

Both instances in the starting areas are inventive and fun to do. One of the bosses in The Nexus bounces your party around all crazy for about 10 seconds. And there's little flowers running around on the ground on the other side of the instance that refuse to die (heroic is going to suck there)

Some of the quests are buggy, but most seem to work just fine. The rewards from group quests and instance quests were all great upgrades for me, but probably not enough to replace T5-6 epics.

Each non instance kill non-rested is about 780-900 exp, inside is 1200-2500 depending on the mob. The amount of exp to next level may seem intimidating at first but it's relative to what you get comparable to TBC leveling times (pre-nerfs).

The new enchanting recipes and armor addition enchants are really nice too, slightly upgraded versions of their TBC counterparts, and for the most part, fairly priced.

The mobs spawn fast, really fast, as in it did't even hit the ground and another just spawned. I would say the quarry area in Borean Tundra is an example of this. Gets extremely frustrating but shadowmeld was a lifesaver.

i came there, grabbed the great gear they furnish you with at the entrance together with tourist fliers and all, and left. one level worth xp + op gear, all in like 90 minutes (incl. ogling around).

maybe twas just the bore_an tundra, which i didnt even explore much. plus, i was a fresh 68 druid, so i was kinda sour not to be able to enjoy my new flight form ;)

just a different point of view ;)
i'm sure i'll be back, though. no question.
