How are you speccing your 55 DK?Follow

There has been a lot of discussions about what specs to use end game, but I haven't seen much discussion about how people will be leveling. I wasn't in the beta, and I'm curious about the different specs that people will be using when they create their 55 DK. I was thinking of trying something like this but I really don't have anything to back it up with, other than thinking that the talents I chose "sounded good".

Please feel free to post your builds. Any explanation of why you chose that spec, or what you plan to pick up would certainly be helpful to myself and others. Let me apologize in advance if this has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to find anything that wasn't horribly outdated.

Thanks,
Camel

Edit: Fixed my build link

The build you linked has 55 points spent, which means that you have to be level 64 to use it. I'm looking for level 55 builds that you'll be using when you create your DK.

I don't see myself running any instances until at least the Outlands, so I definitely want a DPS leveling build until then.

im not concerning myself with serious builds until i ding 80

im levelin the fun stuff :D

scrouge strike,then rune tap,then lichbourne

with my lil ghoulie pet :D

from my understanding though, in leveling terms.... blood = single target dps, unholy can swing aoe grinding, and frost for the tanks in us all

im using the time to experiment and figure out whats more fun :)

Oh I totally agree. That's why I created this thread. I want to see how people are choosing to level and why. I fully expect to try both Blood and Unholy on my way to 80. I'd just like to see some level 55 specs. They don't have to be min/max specs, I'm just curious what people have tried or what people are going to try.

At this point very few of us have any experience with a DK, so I thought I'd try to figure out what people thought would be a fun way to level.

I dont really have time to put together a spec right now, but I plan on going full unholy up to 60, then sidespeccing in to blood. I want the ghoul, the antimagic field, the blight spell, and all the other nifty stuff, as being a blade wielding necromancer with dark magic appeals to me more than being just another heavy melee focused class.

Ill link my actual spec later in an edit once i pick up my copy of wrath and sit down with it.

I might try something like this for an unholy build at 55. Again, I have no idea if it's right, but it seems like it could be fun. While the anti-magic shield sounds kinda cool, I can't see spending 6 points to get it, when you really don't face that many casters. I can't think of too many times when something like this would have come in handy while leveling.

The ghoul pet definitely sounds cool. I'm gonna have to try this out.

Ah yeah, well, the general idea is that I want to try out frost. I won't be seriously looking at my DK until my mage is a well geared 80 mage.

I'm going to try to level up with a tanking build. I want to learn the mechanics of DK tanking...don't know what build that is yet, but we'll see.

I'm going with a Frost build. It worked for me in Beta, I don't see why it shouldn't work on live.

After much debate, I've decided to go this for leveling:

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfVMVZZfMhI0fkxcq0csut

which I would change into the following once I hit 80

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfVMVZZfMhI0ckgcq0csut

What spec I stay at 80 will depend on my guild's needs.

You linked two level 80 builds with only 2 different talents in unholy.

Anyway, I didn't realize that you wouldn't have your 46 talent points available when you created a DK. Does anyone know when you'll actually have the appropriate number of talent points for your level?

I'm a 58 Death Knight now. I started yesterday.

This is my blood spec so far: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=jfVGq00IRbRtzN

So far it has been working out really well. I kill things really fast and my runic power builds so fast that I have to keep dumping death coils like crazy to get rid of it. There are some good talents in there that I skipped, but I am enjoying the ones I chose.

The Blood talent tree just seemed to be more my style than the others but I think the other trees are really neat too and I'll probably try them at some point. As far as leveling, I'm easily getting the job done. I kill fast and I end almost every battle with full HP. If I don't end it with full HP, it's because I kill the monster too quickly and didn't hit the Death Strike key fast enough ;)

You have them by the end of the starting area quests.

I'm probably going Unholy at 55, the Zombie sounds cool. The gargoyle bombing and ressing as a ghoul also cool.
My brother ain't sure what's he gonna do though... I've been also looking at Blood or Frost.. but iono. I think blood is going to be the most common.

Frost sounds nice too especially against other players.

At lvl 57 I went 22/0/26 to get the initial healing stuff like Improved Rune Tap, Vendetta and Mark of Blood, and also get the perma-ghoul, Summon Gargoyle and the 20% speed buff for my mount. It has worked out really well, and at 60 I was able to solo the Rockflayer Matriarch, a lvl 63 Elite, which gave me a sense of satisfaction, anyway. As a Dranei I have to admit I have my racial heal though Smiley: smile

I dare say lots of other DKs have done the same with other specs, mind you, but I'm quietly proud of doing that.

Any other Elites soloed? I'd like to read about it.
