Ret build for WotLK pushFollow

#1 Nov 12 2008 at 3:36 PM Rating: Decent
Most of the threads discussing Ret builds are quite a bit outdated at this point, so I decided to throw a new one up with less than 6 hours until I get on the boat...

I have been reading the theorycraft about how SoV may be a better option than SoCom... I am glyphed into SoCom, and I have used it since day 1 of playing my Pally, but I thought I'd throw a SoV build out into the mix for your consideration.

Alternatively, if I were to stay with a SoCom build, I would do something more along these lines:

I lean more towards the SoCom build (the 2nd one) because I am also on a PvP server, and I do enjoy the occasional altercation while out, and I do BGs on occasion. You'll note the difference is that I picked up SoCom, Eye for an Eye, and PoJ rather than Seals of the Pure.

I did choose to get BoK in both builds. I would consider dropping that in favor of picking up ImpBoM, but I'm not sure where I'd throw talent points at that juncture. If I went with the first build, I could easily throw those points into something in the Holy tree.

Input?

No a SoV build just doesn't seem to viable right now. IMO the burst from SoC is more useful than the dot applied by SoV. I would only want a dot for fights vs rogues maybe in which case I have Righteous Vengeance there to apply one to de-stealth those guys.

For an arena build I personally plan on going something like this http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0ebNcZVfMtbhucMsxzAo.
2 points in Toughness was just a filler but alternatively I would drop 2 from there and put them into Crusade for 4% damage increase.

Edit: Could anyone tell me how to change my links so that they appear as text rather than the full URL?

Seal of Blood/Martyr is better than both Command and Vengeance/Corruption. Even in solo play. That's what the instant FoL's are for. Judge light to heal from mob damage, FoL to heal from self-damage.

You mean like this? You select the words you want to make into the link, then click the URL button. You get a pop-up box to put the URL into.

And yes, I do suggest http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZaxZVfbtbIucrsguAo. If you plan to not play in a group just about ever up to and into 80, http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sZ0eoZVfbxbIufrsguAo could work instead. You won't be using Kings on yourself, and the removal of stuns can be nice. Command is there for fights where hurting yourself would mean instant death. Stuff like Prince Malcheazar. Stuff you don't see in solo play.

Edit: The only difference between my build and your SoComm build is E4E vs. Imp BoM. I don't know how Wrath mobs are, but I don't often take crits while solo. Things die fast, and I stun them if they start hitting too hard. Also, NPCs can't crit with spells at all, just melee crits.

Yes, PvE ret pallys should be using seal of blood both solo and in groups. Judge Light, throw DS and istant FoL's, and the self damage isn't a problem. DPS with seal of blood is 10-20% higher than with GLYPHED SoC. Basically, don't bother to put a point in SoC anymore.
