My, you ARE full of questions, ain't ya?

Addons are there to make your gaming life easier. My advice to download only what you find useful, not what "everybody has".

With that in mind I use (image of my old* group UI here):

Dominos for customizing my ability bars and key-binding.
Titan Panel for informational use
Omen for keeping track of threat in groups
IceHud instead of WoW player and target frames
Recount for damage analysis and stroking my e-peen :)
DotTimer for managing cooldowns and such (note that there are other more rogue-centric ones, but I use this one across all mytoons)
QuestHelper if I'm feeling lazy

There are several others I use for raiding, but the above are what I use for solo and 5-toon instances.

*edit: Actually, that's a pic of my old solo/5-toon UI. It's been changed a bunch since Wrath.

What is the good buff timer addon with warnings? I am looking for something to make my HfB upkeep less of a chore. Normally I am forced to look in several places in my screen constantly and not on battle at hand to be able to keep track without ******** up too much on HfB timer.

Thinking I need to put buffs and target window somewhere in close proximity of middle of the screen, just looking for some suggestions towards the end; if someone has experience with such.

Edit: Just looked at Icehud. Seems promising, can't test it yet, Tuesday ;p

I use Elkano's Buff Bars and just set one group to only display my HfB, SnD trinket, etc durations. (Basically anything under a minute) then I moved the anchor so that it is just off my left side so I don't have to look around to see when things are running out.

I've heard good things about power aura's but I've never used it. Could try that one as well.

SCT
SCTD
DBM (deadly boss mods)
bartender3 (keybinding ease, and a much better hotbar addon)
ichud(if you can get it working with hfb right)
xperl/pitbull (unit frames, which one you pick will depend on which you think looks better)
omen
ora
CooldownButtons (nice little addon to let you visualize cooldowns)
elkbuffbars (best damn buff bars ever, can also be used to show your slice and dice, rupture etc.)
Fubar (I like this much more than titan panel)
recount (if you wanna see dps info)
!buggrabber (catches all the bugs your UI may or may not spit out, and keeps them out of your face. You can read them from the fubar icon or from the minimap icon)
Ace (basic library for the majority of solid plugins)
QuestHelper (Great while leveling basically points you to the fastest quests you have making grinding sessions much faster. Really big memory hog)

prat
eepanles

And just a tip set your UI scale to the smallest scale possible, the more screen you have the more you can pay attention and see whats going on. Also if you can get used to your binding and turn your bars off all together. My screen is nearly naked except for a fubar panel on the bottom with a menu for the addons Id want to change/enable on the fly.

the last 2 are just so you can have some easy customization options for how you want your UI to look. Prat is good too because it does a lot more than the built in chat. IE say you want to scroll up in a chat window... why click the arrow when you have a scroll wheel! it also has name colors per class, and quite a bit more filtration options.

I have been having a lot of problems with icehud lately, it keeps reading HFB as Slice and Dice, and some times it wont even take down either bar, so when I start the cooldown again it will be there with no timer. Read the threads on curse before you use it, it may be a great addon, but right now I personally can't get it to function reliably.
emailed the creator, he gave me some trouble shooting tips, Ill give them a go when I have a sec. I really loved it in BC, it was just a super clean efficient way of seeing energy, health, tot health, target health, and my personal buff cooldowns.

Oh yah IceHud, I tried it and after playing with settings for HfB, it crashed and now I can't access config at all. The HfB frame is greyed out and uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't seem to do anything. Does anyone know how to reset saved settings, so I can get it work again at least. I would assume it's somewhere in WTF folder. I tried deleting some files for my char in WTF folder but it didn't do anything.
