Remember when we gemmed agility or agility and did the same for enchants?

Those days are over. With the new stat conversion formulas we now like strenght for DPS. What is strength you ask. It is another stat that increases AP much like agility. Anyway here is a chart I got via ctr+c.

Stats and what they give you. Brackets are raid buffed (+10% stats, +10% AP) values while the normal ones are unbuffed.
All values are assuming HoTW and SoTF. All values are per 1 point of stat

Strength                  = 2.332 (2.82172) AP

Agility                   = 1.166 (1.41086 AP), 1% crit per ~78.62 agility (1% crit per ~71.47 agility).

Critical Strike Rating = ~1% crit per 45.91 critical strike rating.

Hit Rating = 1% hit per ~32.79 hit rating [[You need ~9% hit to
                            become hit capped, so ~295 hit rating total]]

Attack Power              = 1.21 AP

Expertise rating          = -1% dodge/parry per ~32.79 expertise rating.

Haste rating = 1% haste per ~32.79 haste rating.

Armor penetration rating = 1% armor reduction per ~15.4 armor penetration rating

I hope you weren't hording agility gems for DPS. While the threads over there can be intense the initial post is a very explanatory and a good read.

Wow...1% crit per 78.62 agility? : ( I was under the impression that to date it has been 1% crit per 25 agility and was getting nerfed to 1% crit per 40 agility.

I didn't realize there was such a dramatic change in context of level 80 stats, but now looking at Wowwiki's Critical Strike page somebody's added a level 80 column to the crit/agility table which indicates that at level 80 you need 83 agility to get 1% of crit.

So our AP will go up relative to our crit which -- correct me if I'm wrong -- will give us higher steady DPS instead of the bursty unpredictability of frequent but unpredictable crits, and help us a lot in PvP where well-geared enemies takes our crits off the table with all their resilience.

I have to go over to read that article after work, but the first thing you posted just made me chuckle realizing something. If strength is a stat we need to stack, if I recall our level 80 tier sets had no strength on them at all. They were itemized for agi, stam, AP, and expertise (unless that has changed since then).

Also given blizzard's narrowing down of itemization, most of our leather will certainly be designed for rogues and have AP rather than strength. Does that mean we will be chasing strength in other non-leather spots? Our will that be completely made up with using gem slots?

Edit: Forgot that does also have an effect on our choice of consumables come 80.

Our gear is lacking in strength but does have a good amount of AP on it instead. We will gem strength, hit, AP and expertise mostly now. Same for enchants. Maybe even crit rating will be desired more than ever before.

I know stats that aren't raw stats for a feral seems crazy but the times are a changin.

The changes will make us less bursty overall. We still convert crit better than most if I understand correctly but not at the obscene rate as before. But will have a steadier DPS. The strength scaling really takes off at level 75 when we get Savage Roar .

The only thing that really has me worried here is combo point generation. Keeping up Savage Roar and Rip seems very CP intensive, but with a lower overall crit we will be generating fewer CP with Primal Fury.

I notice their rotation says ">1 CP, Savage Roar is down, use Savage Roar" though, so maybe doing a 4/5 or 5/5 rotation like I am envisioning isn't what I should be looking at.

The rotation is a lot more complicated than in chocolate.

Is more of a if x && y do z if x || n do l.

As opposed to do x till y keep z up repeat.

So you will always have something to do even if it is FFF or a low energy FB.

edit: As a side note our shared rogur gear should have decent crit rating on it to give us back the crit lost from agility.
