Macro help needed, Please.Follow

I'm new at this macro stuff, and it's not sinking in very fast. Reading and studying what I can find, but it's still confusing me more than clearing anything up. If some kind soul out there could help me with a couple of them and maybe some tips, I'd surely appreciate it. I'd like a macro for Ranged Attacks and another for Melee Attacks. I've put down what I want the macro to do and and the order (I think) I'd like things to happen, but don't have more than a vague clue as to how to set it up.

For Ranged Attacks

/castsequence
/cast (pet attack) /cast Hunter's Mark (So Pet is attacking and Hunter's Mark
is active before I get started)
/cast Aspect of Hawk (if not already active)
/cast Rapid Fire (if available)
/cast Aimed Shot
/cast Concussive Shot
/cast Serpent Sting
/cast Arcane Shot
/cast Aspect of the Viper (to regain some mana)
/cast Auto Shot

For Melee Attacks
/castsequence
/cast Aspect of Monkey (If not already active)
/cast Wing Clip
/cast Raptor Strike
/cast Mongoose Bite
If I get a Parry in Melee, I'd like a line in here that automatically executes Counterattack, 'cause I haven't gotten that right yet trying to do it "manually".

Unfortunately, macros can't do exactly what you want them to do--they can't automate the game to that point.

What you might have better luck with is reorganizing your action bar buttons for easy access to all of these abilities--set up one bar for Aspects, one with keybindings for your most common attacks (I have /assist focus, /petattack /cast Hunter's Mark, Concussive Shot, Arcane, Steady, Multi, and Volley), and another with melee and traps.

Counterattack should be easy--just wait for the button to light up. Like most abilities, if you can't use it, it should be greyed out, and if you can use it it will be lit up like the other buttons.

Just bear in mind that even as Survival, if you find yourself in melee your go-to abilities should be Feign Death (or Shadowmeld), Disengage, and Wing Clip + run awaaay, in that order. You have more survivability that other hunters, but even so, you should be more worried about getting to range for damage than doing damage in melee.

I have my action bar set up with everything I use, I guess what I'm trying to do with a macro is a sequence to step through my shots by clicking one key multiple times for the next shot rather than taking up several action bar slots by using one slot for each action. If I can do that and save slots, maybe I wouldn't have to change action bars to get to what I want. And that would save time and trouble 'cause seems like my fingers are always on the wrong key and don't always go where I want them to. Is there a way to step through my shots with a macro, one shot per click? For the Melee part, I avoid Melee as much as possible, except for when I level up. As soon as I level I go head to head Melee until my weapons/defense stat reach new caps, then back to ranged. I know I have a lot to learn. Heck, I'm so dumb I carried around armor kits in my inventory for 20+ levels without figuring out how to use them on my armor. (When I finally got that figured out made me wonder how long it's going to be before I figure out the next thing) :(
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

First, I really do suggest that you read up on macros on somewhere like WoWwiki. Second, if you keep on hitting the wrong keybinds, using macro isn't going to solve the problem, especially if you plan to PvP. I can get used to an entire new keyboard layout in around a day, it just takes some practice.

Finally, just click hawk once when you log in and be done with it. If your pet has aggro, you don't need conc. You shouldn't be reapplying serpent sting every time the cooldown is up, that is a waste of mana, and a waste of the GCD. If you need to use viper after using 6 shots, then something is truely wrong. Just have it set separately. Also, you wouldn't have a way to go back up to hawk until the macro finishes cycling. On that note, your auto is going to cast at the start anyways, and is unlinked, so as soon as the 1 second aspect CD is up, you will switch back to hawk. Which means, unless you start casting an auto before you hit viper, you aren't gaining any mana, just loosing mana from switching.

Okay, thanks for the input. I can see I still have lots to learn about this game, but I'll get there. Have a good one.
