I am sorry if this is a duplicate post, and wish that Elistist Jerks had a better search option on their forums, but does anyone know the facts on what combination of bestial discipline and go for the throat is needed? For my ghostsabre it doesn't really seem to matter I am always focus starved. I have also respecced a few times and still don't seem to find a good answer.

If your crit rating is under 28%, you need 2/2 in both. If you're over, 2/2 BD and 1/2 GfTT is okay.

My recount crit rate is 26-28% (borderline), and Morris has had zero times I've noticed him lose full focus and I watch him closely (since I'm build testing). Against Maiden he was right in the with the other melee and going like mad. The best dps I've ever seen him turn out, and his focus bar always had red in it (just a sliver at one point though). So the numbers PM quotes seem to play out in actual combat, perhaps they are a tad pessimistic even.

The 2/2 1/2 work well.

I think there's probably another option as your crit increases. Back when I raided as SV, for obvious reasons, I could only take GftT. With 2/2 in there I never saw my pet without focus.

I don't know the exact point where this would be viable, but I'd estimate around 35% crit unbuffed, you could get away with not taking BD entirely.

Only not taking BD is pretty pointless as there's nothing else to put points in that increases dps.
You're better off going 1/2 GftT and putting that leftover point in Focused Aim, Careful Aim, imp. HM or any other dps increasing talent.
