Curse Of Doom?Follow

Since Curse of Doom cannot be cast on players, what good is curse of doom for? Most fights do not last for more than a minute, so about the only thing I can see any use for it is to cast it on bosses.

trash fight:

lots of hard mobs, total time duration is > 1minute. you have a kill order for the trash which are either off-tanked or CC'd. now CoD can be put on a sheep/whatever CC and not break the CC.

so yeah, that's why

also it used to be imba for dps. I haven't done the maths for it come lvl.80, but the next rank of CoD is a large increase on the previous... so it might become viable for boss fights again.

Raid bosses. One global cooldown every minute for around 7k damage at a minimum.

Also, while solo, cast it on a mob and do just enough damage to make sure Doom will kill it. Then fear it around as you kill other stuff. You'll eventually get a doomguard to enslave.

sadly enslave sucks ***** ritual of doom is much better, 'tis a definate 15minutes of doomguard :)

It's not imba. Imba would be if we COULD cast on players/pets.

Whenever I've used curse of doom on mobs while soloing and lucked into getting a doomguard, I've always regretted it. Even with its shadow resist debuffed before it is enslaved, the enslavement is guaranteed to break at the worst possible time, and break early and often. :)

Curse of doom on boss mobs is fun, though. That's the only time I use it any more. I never did get ritual of doom. I always hoped they would improve the spell and make it worthwhile to get. /shrug

they have made it worthwhile

15minute enslave, 100% will last that long. at end it despawns. and the doomguard is our most powerful pet, so for a boss fight that you know your guild can do, summoning this guy is brilliant. heck personally I believe I'll be popping my inferno at about 1minute remaining on a fight.. that or go for an interesting dest spec which allows me to use my imp till it's OOM, summon an inferno, when that dies instant summon a new imp :)

I haven't play my lock in a while but I'm right that you use to be able to cast curse doom on other player in one on one duels but justs like you was say usually was waste of time because no duels goes that long.

I'm just sad about the infernal change. Small AoE damage and 1 second of infernal fun is not that worth it...

At least it won't turn on your friends anymore...

...

...Though that was half of the fun.

Yeah, 1 minute, sorry.

It IS better than nothing. I wish they would figure out a way to make Warlocks use their later pets...

Maybe if they toned down the actual demon and had it give the party (and, I guess the raid now) a really nice buff for an hour or a half.

nah, they just need to introduce perminant enslaves, so each lock can have 1 pet perminately enslaved and summonable at anytime, maybe with a cd or a max duration available out, afterwhich you get your previous pet out again. basically just as an 'ace in the hole'

That would be... AWESOME.

And, if the level insta-adjusted to yours and you couldn't "store" the enslaved summons, that would keep it from getting too OP...
