I'm sure I am just missing something here, but doesn't aspect of the beast only increase melee AP (at least that is what my tooltip says)

Yes, it increases melee AP, but also pet AP :)
And the question is, when is dps from 10% pet AP better than dps from AotH x1.22 + damage from Imp. AotH.

Still, skills like Rapid Killing (clearly meant for high mob value fights) are useless in dummy testing, etc. As I said before, you can only get a 'general feel' for a build, and possibly test incomplete builds. (I didn't mention that previously, it's a toy for the wealthy toon.) If you are 'on the fence' regarding a set of talents and want to baseline compare them, you can if they aren't impacted by the dummies limitations (which I pointed out some of them). If they are, you can only test them in live combat.

So in the end, if you are dummy testing, you need to realize they are not a true combat test of your build and some of the talents that you may have that work against real foes, may not work against the dummies.

That's all I was getting at.
Remember, all we care about is single target boss dps. Everything that could be used in that situation can be used against the dummy. Anything else, we don't care about. So it's worth a lot more then you are implying. It's an invaluable tool to assess mechanics changes, and to test theoretical models.

I'm with you Aethien, and its probably just my noob-nish showing through as it so often does, but the dudes equation of:

Quote:
The equation for total attack power with Beast:
(0.22*HAP+PAP)*1.1

Has the HAP multiplied by the 1.1 (or 10%) when that is only the case with melee.

No it doesnt, it has 0.22*HAP multiplied by 1.1.
So only the part of HAP that transfers to the pet :)

Basically its "(22% of hunter AP + Pet base AP) * 1.1"

It could very well be. His numbers are just way off. Like I said, it's not really a valid method.

Actually he's corrected his math now. And come to the same conclusion based on AP that I have.

I've actually been using AotB to do dailies and farm for a few days now. Makes it noticeably harder to pull of my pet between his extra threat and my lowered.
