I'm having a hard time deciding between keeping my Barbed Choker of Discipline versus picking up the Shattered Sun Pendant of Resolve... Should this be a no-brainer? If so, why? My tanking experience only consists of MTing a couple reg instances and OTing some (partial) KZ and ZA runs.
I'd appreciate any advice!

This is not something to lose sleep over, with the expac coming out in 72 hours. The SSO neck is superior if you are exalted with your faction. Otherwise I think it's a tossup. The Kara neck gives you a bit more avoidance, the SSO one a tad more sta and better threat (fewer misses/parries).
The SSO is waaay better. You don't need defense anymore, so the only benefit of the BCoD is the dodge rating. The SSO one has more stamina, extra hit rating, and expertise in addition to the proc if you're exalted with Aldor/Scryers.
I use Necklace of the Deep . Gemmed with +8 Agi gems.

The Agi on the Necklace give decent avoidance, has some Stamina and the hit s nice.
Not planning on replacing it before Northrend. It is a low priority. If anything I want new legs for leveling.

I am exalted with SSO, and I still use a Necklace of the deep, socketed with Shifting Tanzanites.
I don't like the huge drop in dodge% I get whenever I equip anything else.

If you are exalted with scryers, the SSO neck gives you 10% expertise (I think...) when it procs. If you are exalted with aldor, it gives 5% dodge. I would rate them as SSO neck (if exalted with aldor), then barbed choker, then SSO neck (if exalted with scryers). Use the SSO neck if you want more threat generation instead.

In the high-gear list, the Necklace of the deep is actually rated above the SSO pendant. The list gives mitigation values based on HP added and dodge rating. Previous to the patch, the SSO was higher on both lists. This of course, is a list for mitigation and doesn't take into account threat generation issues. I just found it interesting that the NotD moved higher. Seeing as how it's a relatively cheap piece of purchasable gear, it's pretty high on the list.
PS: I believe the difference between the Regular and the High-Gear lists are that High-Gear assumes you are crit immune. Since all feral tank druids are now crit immune, you should go off of the high-gear chart.
Also, the proc on the SSO neck piece has an internal 45s CD that starts when it procs. This means that for every 10 secs of proc uptime, there will be at least 35s of downtime. Rounding up toive 40(gives 5s to obtain proc), this means that the proc is up for around 20%(10s/50s) of the total time which averages to 2% expertise or 1% dodge throughout a fight.

On a similar note this blue cloak is now better than this purple . Mainly because of armor.

Ummm....Emmerald has not updated his lists for the changes as yet. He is waiting on WotLK and is busy building stairs on the back of his house at the moment :)

Yes unless you are armor capped. The badge cloak was better before because we needed the defense. Now we don't so it drops some spots in the rankings.
