With Wrath coming out in just a matter of days, I was wondering what everyone is doing now to prepare, and what you're planning on doing when you hit Northrend.

I'm not sure which zone I'm planning on going to first. I'll be leveling with my boyfriend, so I'm kind of leaving it up to him on which zone he wants to see.

As for spec, I'm doing a modified 50/11 build with my Gorilladin in mind. Since I'm sharing exp between two people, I want to be able to grind as fast as possible. At level 71, I'm actually going to take Beast Mastery to get those extra points for Rosie. I feel that it's worth it for a Tenacity pet. After 71, my talents are going into Animal Handler and then into a few MM talents. I'm not too worried about talents beyond level 73, since they're just filler, and I'm definitely respecc'ing at 80 anyway.

I'm not sure how I'll do this myself yet. I'll probably stay out of the 51 point talent since I'll be leveling with Humar (Ferocity), and just fill my way up the MM tree from a cookie cutter base specc. From a practicality standpoint, I think I'll be doing quite a bit of research first on all the rep factions and how to gain rep the quickest.

I seriously messed up on my Druid, making Exalted with Cenarion Expedition a serious pain in the *** for me. Doing this again in LK doesn't appeal to me. I'm not going to rush to 80 either. I'll make sure I know every little corner of every zone before I move on, and I'll make sure I know every single little bit of lore or tidbit of knowledge the zone can provide as well.

However, I'm not even sure I'll take my Hunter first. I think my Priest will hit 80 first, with my Hunter as the second character. I've gotten a bit tired of the oversimplification of the class. There used to be a distinct line between the skilled and knowledgeable Hunters, and the rest of the dumbasses. Most of that line has blurred now, since pets, stats and skillsets are now pretty much on Cro Magnon levels. It's almost impossible to shine as a Hunter these days unless you are in really high-end raids and everyone around you is as knowledgeable as yourself about the class. Morons can get to end-game easily, and even impress people. It's become too easy to play Hunters, and I need a bit more of a challenge.

I don't think that I'll research the reputations too far past "OH! A good piece of gear/enchant/inscription comes from there"

So many people won't quest in an area and they grinded out a certain amount of rep with a certain faction, and I don't really care to do that. In TBC, to make it "easiest" to grind to exalted with Honor Hold is to not quest *at all* until you're revered. I would hate the game if I had to grind through any zone without a single quest- especially the very first zone I hit.

I'm gunna be doing the same thing as you ProjectMidnight, putting the 51 point talent in for the 4 extra pet talent points for my gorilla. I might not head to northrend right away, been doing quests in shadowmoon and nether storm, then just saving them at complete so I can hand them in for exp once the Expansion comes out.

I would love to see someone link a good place that will tell me what I need to do to get rep with the different factions and what they drop. I liked in BC how there were a lot of sites that gave you a description of what to do and how high you should be with regards to rep before you quest. I hated grinding rep in honor hold so i just kind of gave up with that area because it was just to slow of a rep grind; granted I do miss the exalted rep rewards.

I know that wowwiki has a list of the factions and there are a few with some rep rewards items, but it doesn't say what do to for rep. So if anyone knows a good site that I can start checking out before LK comes out I'd appreciate it. Sadly though I get the feeling that there isn't going to be anything until a few days after LK gets out.

I've been debating over which character to level (lock vs hunter). I am starting to think that I will play the rested XP game and go back and forth.

I'm keeping the 51 point BM talent as I want to level with my Chimaera. I still want an eagle though so I'll be starting in Howling Fjord.

I'm really not going to look much into rep until I'm near (or even at) 80. I only grind when it's absolutely necessary, and certainly don't want to waste my time doing that when I should be kicking back and enjoying the ride 70-80.

I'm in a casual guild, so I'm not sweating the pace either. I didn't really start til TBC and I joined my current guild at around lvl 17 when there was already lvl 70s so I felt I had to play catch up. Not so this time, so I'm going to take my time.

I' going to roll a Death Knight although I probably won't make it a main. perhaps not even take it past 60. I just want to try those starter quests as I hear they're great and have fun playing with some new class mechanics.

Keeping 51. Gorilla + Volley is going to make for an easy time lvling.

For leveling up, I'll probably use my gorilla for solo grinding. Once I hit 71, I'll go grab the devilsaur in Netherstorm and use him for instance runs. I'm 51 points BM. Its not currently the highest DPS but I like the special pets. Once I get to 71 and add one point into GFTT, it'll be nice again. If there are mobs to grind on for rep in the starting areas, I'll do that first and quest later. I want the grind to exalted to be as short as possible.

Didn't they nerf the 'AOE grind' option somewhat?

If that's the case, gorilla + volley is probably going to be slower than actual questing.

I understand the rep bit, but rep logic works: grind first then quest for ease of finish, right? I generally don't care about rep and will just do quests and move on once I'm at the 'bottom' of the next area to go to, maybe move in a little earlier to a zone with guild support to maximize level difference experience. It's worked well in the past.

I have no idea what I'll actually do, but reading the entries here may help with that. Thanks for the thread.

You grind early, because at a certain rep level, grinding mobs doesn't increase your rep, only instance runs and quests do. So if you save your quests for once you reach that rep bar, you have a much easier time getting to exalted, or whatever you are hoping to achieve.

They changed the damage of Thunderstomp from a physical modifier to a magic one, but it didn't really make a big difference. Gorillas still get pretty decent threat on mobs, so AoE grinding is still viable. Personally, I'll be doing the AoE grind for quests. It's so much faster to have a quest to kill X amount of mobs, or collect X amount of items when you're killing 3-4 at a time.

I'm heading to the Borean Tundra to tame a rhino ASAP. I may start leveling in Outland, just to avoid the crowds in Northrend, but I definitely want to get there as soon as possible (lag and server delays permitting) to see the new content. I wasn't part of the beta, so this is all brand new to me and I'm soooo excited.

As for preparations, my guild has been running kara weekly and I've managed to get some decent gear upgrades which I hope will last to lvl 75 or so. It's unlikely that we'll get to any higher level raids before the 13th. Other than that I've been doing dailies to stockpile a little gold (after I spent a decent amount on gems and enchants for my new epics). In between I've been working on achievements just for fun. Damn, I guess I've been busier in game than I realized. :)

Dunno what the exact best way to level is going to be. Like some have stated before everyone and their mother AND the kitchen sink are going to be questing. So I may do what I did with TBC which also helped on some rep grinds.... Instance the hell outta my toon until my eyes bleed. I know it gets boring to run the same instance over and over, but XP's are good and from what I have done on Beta, the instance runs are quick. Normally you also don't experience the frequent DC's of the Northrend server going to crap because of toon overload. Seriously, they should just put a cap on population like they did with the initial release to allieveate that crap. I can't tell you how much of my life was wasted away reading "position in queue: 143..."

Sorry, I wasn't clear on my reference. I wasn't directly referring to Gorillas but AOE grinding as a whole. I seem to recall some patch note and discussion about reduction of 'open field' grinding XP and increasing instance/quest XP by comparison to limit the instant AOE level gain like we saw when TBC came out. There were 70's in under 24-48 hours just AOE grinding.

I could be mistaken, I was just pulling out some dusty information that the neurons seemed to put together. It could all be some bad trip being recalled.

Yep I have the same issues, working out what to level, finally happy with my Hunter build but the thought of leveling and Tank and DPS pet doesn't excite me at the moment, so may use the hunter to grind and quest with my Druid and instant run my Priest.
O the choices ....

(Edit bad spelling) (LOL I wish)
