hi guys, how's it going? im leveling a rogue ATM and i just hit lvl 54. i was specced mutilate from 50-54, and then decided to try my hand at shadow step, which i'm liking. my question is, what order of abilities do you use for each spec? for shadow step, it would go like this. Premeditation->Shadowstep->Ambush->Hemmohrage->5 combo point Eviscerate (they are pretty dead from this point, so i just get a couple points and finish 'em off)...for Mutilate it would be Cheap shot->Mutilate-> SS if i didnt crit->Eviscerate.

what is your opinion? here are my specs
Mutilate

Shadow step

Am i doing anything wrong? or if there is a better leveling build let me know. thanks

You're on about solo PvE right?

You'll want this as a muti build, not having Murder fails. You could possibly drop Remorseless as well (for mainly Blood Spatter), but depending on how you solo it's not terrible, so I've left it in there.

Also, generally Cheap Shot -> Muti -> Kidney shot -> Muti -> Evis should do the trick.

I'll leave ShS to other around here.

According to blizzard your primary attack should be backstab.

Yeah, don't know either.

Why would you use ss if muti didn't crit? If you're at 4 or 5 combo points and you've specced right, eviserate will build the energy you need for a final mutilate. And unfortunately backstab is your next best option after ambush, over ss or hemo, especially with daggers. But that has a positional req, and that sucks, as does that build for leveling, and in general. Mutilate should be much faster.

If you dont mind taking a couple hits,
CS -> Mut -> wait ~6 seconds -> Ks -> 2X mutilate -> evis.
Useful for mobs that have higher hp.

Envenom will generally give you better damage unless you talent into Evis (which you shouldn't be as a Mutilate build).

All solo questing rotations are based on stun-locking to reduce incoming damage. For ShS I usually CS/Hemo/Hemo/KS/whatever. Just as I would CS/Muti/KS/Muti/whatever as Mutilate or CS/SS/SS/KS/SS/SS/whatever as Combat.

Quest grinding single mob is about the most similar thing between the specs. Generally speaking, I tie instant "adjusting" skills like Premed to the same spam macro I'll be using a lot. Like Cold Blood/Mutilate/Envenom (all in one macro) so that they'll activate whenever they're off cooldown.

Also note: Shadow Step is not really a dagger build, it's better with swords/fists.

Cheers.
