I was just wondering if other people are finding that after you kill a mob, once in a while you auto shot at a target that was not targeted.

This does not happen all the time, but happens 4 times within two hours while I was farming mats. I never had this problem before the new patch.

If you don't have a target and you try to use a special it will sometimes target another mob and then the autoshot will go off as well. Other then that it would probably be some sort of bug. I haven't noticed any problems though.

I've had the same thing happen--my pet was on passive so it's not related to that, I think it probably is just when you use a special attack, I've had it happen on my little warrior too (but it sucks for hunters, because we have quite an auto-attack range >.<)

When it happens in raids though, it's usually because of the new focus system, it seems sometimes when my target dies I will automatically target my focus's target.

It's a bug with the Auto Attack/ Auto Shoot option.

There are a few fixes to that.

1. Turn off Auto Attack/Auto Shoot and put the line /cast !Auto Shot back into your macro (3:2)
2. Keep AA/AS turned on, and use the macro:

#showtooltip Steady Shot
/stopmacro [target=target,noexists]
/stopmacro [target=target, noharm]
/cast Steady Shot

Personally, I prefer the first option, since it takes up fewer characters in your macro, giving you room to add in all the SFX and Error frame fixes while also letting you use a /click line to trigger another macro.

The focus system isn't new. It's been around since 2.0. All they did in 3.0 was add in an option in the character frame so you don't have to select the person and type in /focus target.

I've had it happen a couple times in raid situations. Fortunately, I typically stay far enough from the fray so as not to target and auto attack a mob that hasn't already been aggroed.

Update to my earlier post--I was having a lot of trouble with this when my guild tried the first few pulls in Sunwell, I actually broke CC a few times. >.< Yes, I felt like an idiot.

It's not an issue with focus target after all, I didn't have one set that whole time, but I may have a solution--somewhere in the interface options there's something to turn off auto-attack when you change targets, and that seems to have solved my problem.
