looking for some adviceFollow

Hi all,

I'm a new to the Wow universe, so my first time playing a toon. I chose the Paladin as the first one to try. So far I love this class. I'm just wondering if there is any advise that some from the seasoned player out there that can help me play this class better. I'm starting to understand the spells I have more, but I still can't seem to beat a warlock or a hunter of the same level (pvp server). I have a Ret pally build and I'm 63 about to ding on 64. The other day a horde warlock ganked me and I just couldn't seem to fight him, he kept using fear on me. Now the first time I use "every man for himself" which broke the fear, but as soon as I turned around to get to him he feared me again, Of course this time I couldn't do anything because I'm waiting for the cool down of my counter spell. The strange thing is, I was able to beat a warlock pre patch (but it was just luck I'm sure).

And hunters, what's the best approach on them, go after them or their animal?

Thanks
See you in the battle field...

um, i'm no pvp expert, so hopefully one of them can help you out a bit. as a ret against any kind of range you're going to want to use whatever tool is needed to get close to them. HoF, DS, Repentence. at that point you need to do as much damage as you can as fast as you can before they get away (or fear you like the lock will do). Hammer of Justice helps to give you the time to kill them or at least get them low enough to finish them off before they get away.

for hunters, I would definitely not kill their pet. while you're focusing on the pet they're free to kill you at range and that's bad news.

Paladin vs. Warlock is still an immensely tought fight. Use repentance, bubble, Hammer of Justice, Heals, Lay on Hands, Every Man for Himself, etc. Throw everything you can at the Warlock and do your best to stay in melee range. The best way to beat a Warlock is to surprise the Warlock and try to keep it stunned long enough to burst it down. If the Warlock surprises you, you are probably toast unless you get some luck.

The vast majority of Hunters are still BM spec, so it is usually wise to just Repentance the pet and go for the hunter.

In either case, (warlock or hunter) remember to use Hammer of Wrath when they are below 20%.

Hunters are easier to kill 1v1 than warlocks. Warlocks are ALWAYS tough for a Paladin. The timing of your stuns, bubble, and heals is critical as well as trying to stay in melee range. Also, Avenging Wrath adds a lot to your holy damage, but can no longer be used while bubbled after the most recent patch.

I hope someone can find CapJack's Paladin vs. Warlock flowchart, because it still applies.
