Scourge Purple drops & BMFollow

#1 Nov 06 2008 at 12:17 PM Rating: Good
Hi fellow Hunters,

I have been away from the game for a while and since I have been back and taken part a little in the scourge attacks I wanted to ask your opinion on the Purple drops from the attacks. I have a couple but am unsure as to the benefit in them. My armoury is linked below and I am only wearing the gloves for now.

Is anyone out their wearing the whole kit? If so how does it affect stats? is it worth the effort, (which lets be honest is minimal), to get it?

Let me know. I would also say that the 49\12\0 BM spec rocks the nuts in terms of DPS. At the moment my Hit is down at 68 as I am wearing a different Helm, but with my other helm that has 3x +8 Hit yellow gems in that is up to 92. Despite this I dont seem to missing much at all, not even the elites in instances, (I am now entering a few at long last!!!).

I'm currently wearing the full set - but before I got it I was all in blues (with a couple of greens still). I haven't noticed a big difference between what I had before and the new epics, except in my overall confidence. Somehow with the upgrades to my armor I felt like I could finally take on Kara (where I picked up a couple of epic weapons - woo hoo!).

IMHO, there are some people (like me) for whom the set will be an improvement over their existing gear, but I suspect for many people who already have decent gear it will be at best comparable and at worst something of a downgrade. I'd be interested to hear if anyone thinks it will be advantageous to have the set when WotLK launches next week - for example, are there going to be so many undead mobs that it makes the slight buff from equipping the entire set actually valuable.

I'm rocking the full set on my hunter (who is typically Marks, US armory is down so can't link). Off the top of my head though, I think the set is not that great for BM because Serpent's Swiftness + quiver gets you down to 1.5s Steadies off the bat, so the loads of haste on it would only contribute to your white DPS. It did good by my hunter (who just dinged 70 as the invasion hit), but for you I'd probably only consider getting the legs.

I think (no expert, only poked around in the Beta a little) that the vast majority of our leveling will be killing critters and humanoids and that the major Scourge fighting will be after this set is obsolete.

Well, they definitely fall under the "welfare epics" category. The set is better (and faster to get) than heroic gear, but you'll replace a lot of it in Kara. At this point, if you're just hitting 70, I would highly suggest taking the time to farm the set for going into Northrend.
