so all the numbers for RV dot not stack were comming out to be a loss in DPS. i took a look at the discripion of RV and realized something. my question is, am i understanding this right.

before is just raised Crit damage by 40% which means 240% crits.

now its takes 40% of its total damage and adds a dot.

before 1000 DS would crit for 2400

now a 1000 DS will Crit for 2000 and have a 800 damage dot. for a total of 2800 with no refreshes.

so even if the nonstacking makes the talent only 50% effective due to refreshes, its still the same DPS or more if you dont end up with refreshes.

That's how I read what GC was talking about. An overall buff to damage, but less damage on the huge crits that people whined about being killed by 2 of. And last I read, he wants to make it stackable.

In PvP though, RV gets hit pretty hard by resilience. It requires a crit, gets its base damage from the crit damage, and is then a DoT. And it's dispellable.

The DoT DOES stack, in the same way as Deep Wounds.

Give it a try on a stunned target... wait for a Divine Storm crit and watch the DoT ticks; they should be 10% of your initial crit (10% x 4 ticks = 40%).

Once the DoT is ticking, stun the target and hit it with Judgement of Command for a guaranteed crit; the new ticks will be the average of the remaining old damge plus the new damage.

It does stack, just not in an obvious way.

It's a buff to sustained DPS, and only a minor PvP nerf.

EDIT: By the way, according to an implication in a GC post, RV is intended to proc even if the crit that procced it is prevented by Resilience, thus eliminating one of the three Resilience-based resistances to its output. This is actually better for Arena PvP where Resi is usually capped out, and although it is dispellable that does mean someone has to burn a dispel on a minor, short-duration DoT instead of possible hitting a much more expensive lock or SP DoT.

I ran Hramps last night and I was putting out 1200 DPS. *Edit actually it was about the same as I did in ZA before 3.03 but I was more buffed there...

It may be due to armor levels etc. but overall I was pleased.

nice, so something that looks like a nerf to everyone else is actually a pretty nice buff.

I approve. Now rogues have another class they need to blow CloS on before they vanish.

and for the resiliance comment, it was discused in the war or rogue boards some time ago that any and all talents that have to do with crit will still activate if Res prevented the crit. so yes, it should still apply the DOT on Res Non-crits, also the same applies with Eye for a Eye.
