...how am I supposed to gear up if nobody will bring me on anything? I've healed heroic SH with 3 excellently geared others, tank included, and the 5th member in ok gear. Yet a group looking for a healer won't even give me a chance. I even offer to pay repair bills if we wipe and accepting a /kick, but no. I helped heal kara, and it was my first time through, the other night!
So really. 632 "bonus healing" (spell power). What can I reasonably heal, assuming at least decent healing skill?

Never offer to pay for peoples repairs. All that says to them is "This guy is crap and the run will fail"
Look at stuff like the rep PvP blue items (or other honor items if you do BG's). Karazhan is a good be now too - one of our priests solo-healed it the other night (BT geared) so you plus another healer should be able to manage it pretty easily - and there is plenty of opportunities for upgrades there as well.
As far as heroics the easier ones are slave pens & underbog, so maybe concentrate on trying for groups for them. A lot of people run them now as they are pretty quick to get through.
632 spell power is equivalent to about 1100 or so +healing pre patch which isn't too bad at all. With all the nerfs to content in the patch, you should be fine on almost any heroic now (maybe avoid Magister's Terrace). Heroic SH is one of the harder ones, so having successfully done that is a pretty good sign that you are geared enough :)
Failing that, wait 10 days and the expansion hits and you will be getting upgrades from quests :)

Thanks for the input. I blow at pvp (but then again, I'm a clicker, along with the fact I haven't found any addons I really like), so grinding honor and such isn't really enjoyable. I did manage to get in some groups after I posted this and did alright. (>_<;;) I guess I won't really worry about it much, since the expansion does drop soon...
healing i like heal bot it's fairly easy to use. i havent tryed anything else though.
