two-handed sword vs. one handed swordFollow

I just recently finished the Cyclonian quest and got the two handed sword that came with it. I went and tried it out right away on some hapless bear in the woods, and could not do any significant damage to the bear. It was so bad, I swithed back to my one handed sword just to kill the bear as he was doing more damage to me that I was to him? I learned the two handed skill some time ago, back as a level 24 or 25 Warrior, but never bothered to nurture the skill with a sword, and just stuck to my sword/axe/sheild combo all the time. With each blow to the bear I made, I did little or no damage, but each swing made the 2 handed skill go up a point. As of right now, that skill is in the low teens for points, as I quickly abandoned the sword, put it in the bank vault, and went back to my trusty saxe and sheild. So my question is to anyone: should I keep this really sweet sword, and just keep plugging away at bad guys an animals until I get real good with it, or sell it now for a nice price, and stick with my already good 1 handed sword skill, and keep upgrading? I think about how long it took to complete that quest, and all the trouble I went through, only to sell the sword now, seems like it was never worth it? However, I did level up during the final fight, and gained about 9,000 xp points in the process, so it was not a total loss. And, a guy in my guild would really like to have the sword if I dont want it, so I probably could fetch a nice price for it? Help a Warrior out?

Those quest rewards (as is the case with most quest rewards) can't be sold to anyone except a vendor. You'll barely get over 1g for selling it.

The biggest reason it sucks now is because your weapon skill for 2h swords is low. You need to keep all your weapon types leveled up. You can either do them as you level or do them when you get an upgrade. It sucks either way but doing it as you go spreads it out a lot better.

If you don't feel like leveling it now I'd just keep it in your inventory and pull it out once in a while.

First off, I would level up the weaponskill. Then respec to arms and you will feel an increase of damage. I leveled as arms, and I used The Cyclonian axe for 10 levels! You will just need to level up your 2h skill. Thats it. And perhaps respec to arms in talenttree. You can do that a warrior trainer. Costs 1g first time.

Good luck, fellow warrior!

The big bonus of warriors is that we can wield any weapon (except wands, but they're for girls anyway).

Any time you're waiting for an instance group, waiting for a battleground, or just generally have nothing much to do, I would advise levelling your weapon skills. Equip a new weapon (the white ones sold by vendors generally have the fastest speed and so more hits in the time) and go kill some critters/run SFK or WC just to level the weapon. That way if whenever a nice axe/mace/sword drops that is better than what you have you can equip it instantly and raise your dps.

You should raise unarmed skill (since you will be disarmed a lot and fist weapons use this skill), 1 handed axe, sword or mace and 2 handed axe, sword or mace as well as your ranged weapon (and the more ranged the better) as high as you possibly can.

The weapons from that quest chain are good for many levels if you get them early enough. Don't let your low skill level scare you away from a good weapon.

Next time you're in Org, go to Ragefire Chasm. Equip that 2-handed sword and bang away on low level elites. Their high health will allow you to get in lots of blows per monster, while their low level lets you stand in there without suffering too much damage.

Now spam rend or sunder as you attack. Those are low rage cost instant attacks that allow you to get more swings in than your weapon speed does on it's own.

They've recently made it easier to level up weapon skills. It should take no time at all to get that thing maxed out.
