PVP Question?Follow

Hello everyone. Recently started running Bg's. Going for pvp gear even though expac is right around the corner. Currently doing arathi basin. I'm having my butt handed to me on a silver platter by rogues and locks. >< One I'm on alliance and most of the battles i've been in are not organized at all. I ask about battle plans and they say don't let me die. So battle starts and I charge for say the mine. Have no idea what group i'm in. All I see is alliance members being raped by horde. I get to mines and see flag hasn't been taken yet so I approach and BAM! Assassin Rogue hits me from behind. I get away and lay a trap. Instantly I'm sapped and I see my trap being deactivated. I'm like wth. I use a flare but see nothing.

And Locks just suck my life right from my body. What am i doing wrong. Main objective is to kill and hold the area's such as farm ect. How can I hold an area when the alliance is so scattered out and running around with like chickens with no heads. I wanna get so much better at pvp and get my pvp gear so I can at least make an impact and top the damage charts.

Any of you got any advice on what would make me a better pvper such as tactics and gear. I'll link what i'm currently wearing:

Any advice would be helpful. If you must yell at me for being noobish.....please....be kind ><. Just trying to better myself and make ready for expac

You have a lot of +agi/AP and +int gear. This is good for PvE, but will gimp you in PvP (1 500 AP but only 370 stam, you're free honor in a BG). This set would up your HP pool and resiliense. That helps to some extent with staying alive. Try to gem almost exclusively for Stam.

As to tactics, there are a hundred things you should do with each and every class. Not to mention the things you shouldn't do! Just remember that you're a drain class in PvP (mainly arena, but it helps in BG's too), so make sure you Viper Sting every spell caster you see.

Never let your traps be on CD. Your best bets are Snake and Freezing Trap. Use FD to interrupt spell casting and make people loose targets. Use Flare to detect stealthers around the flags. Use Volley if there's a large chunk of opponents somewhere (it scales with AP now, so you might get crits for up to 1k with your gear).

Use your pet to Interrupt healers. The new pushback system is a hurt, but at least you'll guarantee that a healer gets 2 pushbacks before getting a heal off.

What you need to see is you can't expect yourself to win against people who are decked out in epics, PvP or not. A lock in full S1 gear will own anyone with gear like yours, so don't expect too much of yourself. Just do your best and try to focus on what works for you, and what helps the team (unlike those damn retardins who've suddenly forgotten they have healing abilities)!

Thanks utarius. Yes all I hear now is trade channel which shouldn't be there in the first place is how much more powerful rets are. I personally don't care lol. They 2-3 shot people when a mage can one shot people. They have no ranged which means from a distance, especially against a mm hunter or such they suck. As for the tips in bgs. I do use volley and it racks up a load of honor points. Should I be getting all the pvp gear or just some of it.

One thing. I don't want that crossbow of the phoenix. I don't really care for crossbows. Bows seem to crit more. Maybe I'm wrong. But still learning different play styles of the hunter and not just pve.

1. Paladins can stun from a distance. Next time you're in range of one, hit disengage and watch what they do. It's incredibly overpowered.
2. Chances are the reason you see more crits with Bows is low weapon skill in Crossbows. You're a nightelf, so you don't get any kind of bonus with any weapon. You should use whatever is the highest DPS, which will be the chicken crossbow.
3. You get raped in BGs because you have less than 10k health. Run Alterac Valley to gain rep, and once you have the right PvP gear, go back to which ever BG is the most fun for you.

The best advice I can give you for tactics is to always be in a group of 3 or more. Always have a healer in the group.

After that, it's knowing the BG's particulars and cooperating with both the tactical and strategic plans. Going willy-nilly everywhere is usually a loss. Stay focused, stay cohesive.

You've already been given gear advice, but for BG's it's less important than it is for Arena. Hunters excell in the open area combats of BG's, we are gimped in the more confined arenas and need the stam just to stay alive long enough to get away from the attacker(s) and heal up. I've lived all the way through a BG, I can count on one hand the number of times that's happened in 5v5 arena... and a LOT of matches. Hunters tend to be early targets in Arena.

I'm not sure how all of this will play out after LK.
