help me vs resto shamanFollow

#1 Nov 02 2008 at 7:22 PM Rating: Decent
I've been doing pretty well in BGs and also duels vs most classes.
Today was the first time I dueled a resto shaman, and I wasn't even close, even though our gears weren't that different. (I'm about 50-50 vs resto druids btw)
The thing was, before he accepted the duel, he unloaded like all the totems he had in his ******* and then sat in the middle or ran around them. I'm not sure if that's fair?
Anyway, if I got to him (which I didn't always, cause the totems spotted me) I did some damage, but he got healed very quickly, and then the totems just wore me down eventually.
I also tried stunning him and then clearing up those damn totems, but that didn't seem to work at all, there were just too many, and also 1 with a fire elemental that had 3,3k HP.
I have never had any problems with resto shamans in BGs, but then they don't surround themselves with a million totems either.
Just wondering what you're tactics are vs this kind of opponent.
Thanks!

What?

It's a duel. You expected him to not use his totems in a duel?

Shamans are fcking easy. You kick the heals and keep them stunned. They haven't got a ******** of health.

Resto shamans should never be easy with equal gear/skill.

In fact, resto shamans should be one of the hardest classes to kill in a duel as a rogue.

I can honestly say, even with my crappy gear and experience, that I have never had a problem 1v1 with resto shamans. Druids, yes, but not shamans.

Maybe all the shamans I dueled were crap or something. I do meet a lot of bad shamans.

Most of the best rogues in their PvP videos duel resto shamans because they're more of a challenge than almost any other class in this game.

Care to elaborate, Theo? I honestly haven't had much trouble versus resto shaman but I'm speaking from a <1700 perspective (I also never duel).

All I can really think about that might make them difficult is frost shock spam + Earthbind and a well timed instant big heal.

Good resto shamans will put up flame shock, which ticks for a ******* with the spell power changes.

They'll also drop searing totem, which pops you ever 2 secs for a lot of damage as well (also due to spell power changes).

With Earth Shield and their ability to heal themselves very easily (in addition to loads of armor), their offensive power mixes with their defensive power for an incredibly hard match-up, especially after 3.0.2.

I haven't dueled a lot post-patch so that makes sense.

Even so pre-3.0.2, unless you were heavy poisons mut, you didn't stand much chance against resto shamans. Of course if they're bad, you could win fairly easily.

Against good resto shamans though, a legit win would take a long time, much like a win versus a resto druid.

It's the strength of the class that they're very powerful in 1v1 situations because they're so defensive with two abilities that allow them to put up enough damage to eventually kill you.

Kill totems. If you're at range from a searing totem, guge the shaman and use throwing weapon. If they have toughness, be careful you always have them slowed. Kick heals.
