Easy Cheesy CE RepFollow

I'm so bloody close to CE Exalted / Earthwarden and Steamvaults runs just haven't been coming together lately cuz all my peeps wanna badgerun Kara, but tonight I figured out an (admittedly cheesy) way to farm some rep.

On regular Steamvaults, the first pair of melee mobs is easy to solo now that you can root the first one for half the fight, and they've been dropping Coilfang Armaments like mad. (how do YOU spell jinks?) I did this one time just to see how easy it would be, and they BOTH dropped them. Kill, back up, reset instance, back in again. I've done it 4 more times now, and each time at least one of them dropped one.

So 12 rep x 2 for the mobs x 4 "runs" got me 96 rep, and 75 per Armament times 5 (2,1,1,1) got me another 375.
500 rep in a matter of minutes...solo. Feels silly, but a better investment of my time than dailies. : )

Just wanted to share in case anybody else is sick of running, or trying to run Steamvaults "for realz." : )

After a while I also gave up on SV.

I switched to H SP/UB. Sold it as easy badges. Which it they are.

Honestly I hate H SP. I ran it way more than SV. The choice was often SV or H SP. I took H SP every time. The badges got me gear. I can run H SP drunk while sleeping with 2 broken arms now but still I got me an Earthwarden.

The worst part was it took forever and seven years for Quag to give me his legs. Now in these 'wurs mah armah' times I use them for tanking.

Stupid H SP.

edit: fix link or not :(

Epix are not always better than bluez.

Clefthoof Hide Leggings

Emmerald probably hasn't updated his gear list for 3.x, but for 2.x BC, these were the best Druid pants you could get outside of raids / badge gear.

Yeah, Emmeralds isn't updated yet. He is waiting till WotLK rather than releasing an interim list. We don't push him because we know he is busy IRL :)

Does anybody know how Earthwarden will stack up against "coming soon" low to mid 70s gear? Are there any level 72 quest rewards that'll make it obsolete, for example? I haven't seen any yet, but I'm debating whether or not I should push for the last bit of rep and then spend the gold buying/enchanting it. I've got Braxxis for real tanking and Staff of Natural Fury does well for when I need to up my TPS.

I know, I know, just do it, right?

JeeBar you are around 5k rep from exalted. H SV gives around 2k, H UB around 1k and H SP around 600. You could have Earthwarden in a few days. Just convince people that it is quick badges. Or be a nice fellow and run all these fresh 70s, that seem to be everywhere on server, through their first heroic.

You can start farming mats for Mongoose while you are LFG to get over the hump. :)

Unless you plan to instance your way to 80, I would skip Earthwarden and get a good DPS staff. Either the BoJ one from IoQD, or just grab a quest reward or random world drop after LK goes live.

Even if you are going to instance, there's a 76 BoE blue with 700 armor, 77 Expertise, and 1090 feral AP. That's the first staff with armor that I've seen.

Fail Ieatrocks. Take your trolling elsewhere. When someone asks a question on the druid forums, they actually get an answer pertaining to the question they asked.

/drool

Yeah, that's exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully it has some stam too--probably, since they clearly itemized it as a tanking piece. On that matter, is there a place that lists WotLK gear? I haven't been able to find anything.

I don't consistently have time to run lots of instances (hence the CE rep problem) so will probably mostly be questing my way to 80. It sucks that I'm so close to Earthwarden, but given the level 76 option I won't put in the admittedly minimal amount of effort and gold (+80G to buy +150g to enchant) it would take to get my Earthwarden on. Mostly because I'm confident my DPS and tanking gear (3000+ AP/36% crit or 26k armor/15.5k hp/37% dodge, respectively) will be fine for getting to 80 via questage or instance action.

Thanks for the info, all.

Amazingly that staff doesn't.

Would be nice if it did. Looks cool though.

You should be fine with Braxxis but Earthwarden is just so druid tank. Natural Fury is pretty RAWR also so you will be fine.

Whoa, when did the druid forums turn into class=4?

I wasn't trolling, thought it was a reasonably amusing joke, but then again I'd been up for 26 hours and was on my way to bed.
Mental note: mus always remember that emotions don't carry well in text, and sarcasm least of all...

Anyway, thanks for the CE rep tip. Gonna have to do that. Nobody does anything, heroics included, on my server anymore.

There is this level 71 quest reward :--

Hungering Greatstaff

Not a lot of info on the quest on Wowhead either, but looks like the chain may be soloable (if not there will be HEAPS of people wanting to do it).

Fair enough leatrocks. If you weren't trolling, then I apologize, but still re-reading it I can't see the sarcasm.

The OP was clear on asking about mid 70's weapons with armor on them. He also was clear about already having Braxxis so it had already been mentioned.

The individual who replied to the OP's actual question, by giving an example of a mid 70's weapon with armor on it and saying it was the only one he had seen , implying, in that level range.

So like you said, sarcasm doesn't come across in type very well, but even after knowing it was supposed to be, I still don't really see it.

The one thing you should take out of this, we are pretty protective of our drood forum. :P

Oh and I returned your favor of rating me down for being honest with you. Thanks!

Which is why it was funny to me in the first place. <shrug> Like I said, chalk it up to lack of sleep. I said 26 hours before, but at that point is probably closer to 32.

Wasn't me. I've never rated anybody on the druid forums down, I don't believe, and I've been lurking around here (druid forums specifically) for a few months. The only time I ever rate somebody down is when they've posted something clearly false or go on for what should be several paragraphs without punctuation.

Since somebody apparently did, for lack of a better term, on my behalf, feel free to take a couple. I'll ding you up on each post of this thread.

I actually found it kinda of amusing to be honest. Never been sub-d'd before. XD

Thank goodness. My druid is a farily new 70 and I wasn't looking forward to the CE rep grind either. I'll just keep my Braxxas and my DPS staff and wait till 72. Woot.

Alright leat, I'll take your word for it. I went ahead and rated you up on this last one. I've had those 24-36 hour days myself so sorry about the confrontational attitude. As I stated before, I'm just a little protective of our forums and I didn't see your sarcasm. :P

Somewhat OT, but I finally got exalted with CE last week. I'm now doing the slow, painful grind that is Cenarion Circle. The notion of a Druid being a Guardian of Cenarius really appeals to me!

Speaking of feral tanking staves (and armor), has anyone quite figured out why they are removing armor from all the staves? The excuse that druids would fight tooth and nail (and probably maim some poor guild prot warrior) to get rings/trinkets/etc with armor and ignore other choices for those spots, but why the staves and maces?

Generally there have only been a couple staves for any level of progression I can think of. T4, you get Illhoof's Stranglestaff and Earthwarden (not a T4 drop but you get the idea), T5 gives the SSC staff drop and Hex's staff from ZA. In both cases I see one tank weapon and one DPS weapon, so there isn't a big deal with "ignoring choices". Furthermore they put armor on every tank-designed feral staff throughout Northrend. To this just seems like a very awkward and sudden decision on Blizz's part. I trust they will make up for it, but I just don't see the point of it in the first place.

You kind of answered your own question.

Blizz wants us to have more than 2 choices of weapon per tier I think. Removing armor makes for more actually decisions in weapon choice besides, "I lieks me soem armuh".

Also it is the first step to getting rid of feral weapons and the ridiculous FAP.

Me too! Well, kinda.... I've been exalted with CE forever (I've been able to do 20 minute heroic SP runs with my eyes closed, no cc, for months...), but I got cenarion circle rep from ~500/6000 friendly (don't quote me on that, I'm probably wrong) to exalted in less than a week. The title goes so well with my Raven Lord (slightly off topic here, but how messed up is it that the achievement for getting that [it's a feat of strength one, I don't think it is viewable unless you have done it (I know, I know, parentheses [well, brackets, technically] within parentheses, I should really learn to organize my thoughts in a better way than simply spouting them out as they come to me...)] is only 10 points [how many of you did I lose there? Just read it like the parentheses (and brackets) aren't there], but the Guardian of Cenarius achievement [much easier to get, imo] is 25 [at least I think it is 25]?).

That huge extended parentheses thing probably isn't as funny as I think it is. Oh well.

I know the topic's a little old, but...

JeeBar, you definitely just had blind luck. I've been trying this (killing two groups of two; there's a patrol of caster + melee that you can get as well). 4x 4 kills... nothing. I wish I was lucky, but I'm not :-(
