Im not sure what was going wrong, so I shall explain the situation and hopefully you can help me. I am fairly new at pally tanking, I have been 70 for a week but I already have 11k health, 14.7k armor and 508 def. I tanked Kara last night with little trouble. Today, though, I was running Heroic blood Furnace and was dieing every pull almost.
Now some of the pulls were bad, my fault I understand that, but for the most part it was pretty good. I wasnt having a problem with aggro but for some reason I was taking an absurd amount of damage, 5-6k on some normal hits. I kept holy shield up constantly. I dont understand what the problem is. Hopefully one of you could point me in the right direction?
On a side note, what kind of weapons do we pally tanks want nowadays? It used to be sp is that still true?

My guess would be that you'd have 2-3 healers for Kara and 1 for H BF. And how good was the healer for the heroic?
If it wasn't the heals...if you were just taking too much dmg, then look into using CC and/or taking out casters first since your armor doesn't mitigate spell damage.
As for the weapon, spell dmg weapons are meh. I still have my s2 mace, but recently switched to using this because HotR's threat is based off weapon DPS. Spell damage is still usable, but falls short to Str and Stam since most paladin abilities scale with AP and SP (and if you are prot spec, you get 30% of your Stam converted to SP).

First off thanks for the response. Secondly the kara we did had only one healer, she was really geared though. This run the healer had decent gear mostly epics. The pulls we did weren't all that large, 2-3 at most, so I dont think that was the problem, although I could be wrong. Its just bothering me a lot cause I havent had any problem with tanking before, and I hate to do poorly.
EDIT: Also if you have any recommendations to improve that would be greatly appreciated. My spell rotation generally is holy shield + seal of blood, AS pull, consecrate, holy shield, hammer, then it basically rotates between HotR, Consecrate, Judge, and Holy Shield with Holy Shield as my priority.

The mobs and bosses in Kara in general hit less hard than the mobs and bosses in Heroic BF. Heroic BF isn't the HARDEST heroic out there, but it is still pretty tough. I would rank heroics about like this for a Paladin Tank with a decent healer along for the ride:

I am sure that I forgot some, and I am sure some people might rearrange this list a bit, but BF is solidly in the middle of difficulty level for heroics just because the mobs and bosses hit FRIGGIN HARD! I have 13.5K health unbuffed, 17.5K armor with Devo Aura up, close to 500 defense and about 104% avoidance with holy shield up, and it is still possible (even with a very good healer) for me to die in Heroic BF.
I would also recommend Seal of Vengance rather than seal of blood but I doubt that seal of blood was causing THAT much damage return, so that probably really isn't much of an issue.
My build is 0/54/7 so I take advantage of an awful lot of Prot abilities, and I still die in BF at least 2 times per run of that place.

From everything I've seen, only raid content has been nerfed for the patch, and heroics are unchanged. Some heroic mobs, even in Ramps and SP, hit like trucks. There were heroic pulls that were comparable to any pre-nerf Kara trash. Now, there's no comparison - you can expect the heroic to be tougher. It's even possible that hSL or hMrT is the biggest challenge pre-ZA (and maybe only the second half of ZA, at that).
That said, 11k unbuffed used to be on the light side for a heroic. If the healer is still growing into her new talent trees (Jack Lord knows I still am), things might get interesting even on a few pulls you might think you would stampede.

Itemization is now intended to be the same for all tanks, your abilities should scale with both spellpower and attack power (mostly). That doesn't mean that spellpower stopped working with the patch or that you should throw away your current weapon for a warrior blue - but Blizzard has basically said that they don't want tanks coveting the same swords mages use. Roll with what you have for now, but expect that your gear will look more and more like a warrior's as you upgrade.
I think in BF and I know in Ramps some of the orcs use Mortal Strike which is a very high damaging attack.
11k health is a little low for BF HC, at least it was until Pre-patch. You should be on 12k at least unless HCs have been nerfed. I have 15.6k HP and (pre-patch) BF mobs were still not to be ignored. They hit way harder than kara mobs, where of course you also have the luxury of more healers and a lot more dps. And I MT kara (pre-patch) with no OT or CC at all (with the exception of a couple of boss fights ofc).
Try tanking easier HCs or even better, do a couple more Kz runs and get some badge gear and hopefully a couple of drops. Then go back and slaughter BF.

Do you have a link to your armory? Because the problem is now sounding like a gear problem if your only tanking 2-3 mobs at a time and the healer is decent (650+ SP is decent to me). If you don't have your armory, then please post your: HP, Armor, Def, Avoidance (Dodge + Parry + Block)
