definitely pick up the slowfall minor glyph, it is awesome not needing to carry around any more light feathers!

As Pold said, it entirely depends on your spec or what you are going to be doing (pve/pvp/soloing/etc)

The general idea at 80 will be for:

main nuke (fireball, frostfire, frostbolt)
armor (molten or mage)
scorch/winter's chill (depending on your spec)

I like to call it the "Glyph of Two Extra Bag Slots". Smiley: grin

You know, I haven't really looked at the glyphs from an arena standpoint. About the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Glyph of Ice Block.

glyph of slow fall is good and im also rather happy about the glyph of frost nova :)

Think I went for the Scorch and Pengiun Glyphs.

From the arena Perspective I'd definately say Icy Veins and Evoc. Evoc heals you for 60% of ur hp, which is awsome, and IV is a scaled down version of the PvP trinket, which is obviously pretty good for PvP. PvP = Frost imo, and hence you will have too many novas anyways, to be realiant on Iceblock glyph.

I have Evocation, Scorch, Slow Fall, and Penguin. I have seen a couple minor glyphs that might be fun, but don't really offer me anything that will be that good. I am waiting for WOTLK to come out and I will replace Evocation with Fireball, then Frostfire, get Molten Armor, then see form there. Since I don't know exactly what gylphs are coming out, I can only hope I'll something useful.

i went with the evocation glyph and frost nova for majors, and slowfall and poly penquin for minors. My reasoning behind the evocation lgyph was that i plan to pvp on this toon, so 60% hp restoration seems like a godsend. And beign able to deal 20%? more dmg to a novaed target means more shatter crits.

yeah got evocation not too long ago, **** is amazing, even if u are freshly resd and someone is camping you, you sheep evo buff and ur good, dont have to evo and bandage, time saver AND u don't have a bandage cool down on you

I personally like glyph of mage armor. Gaining an additional 20% during casting really helps with not draining mana so fast, especially in instances when you want to keep on moving and not sitting around. I also use glyph of evocation because i just like the fact of getting mana and health at the same time, and I have the glyph of slow fall so i don't have to worry about dang light feathers anymore.

For PvP I went ice block and icy veins, but that's only because I didn't know about the evocation one the day after the patch. At 80 that will be my third for frost PvP.

Yeah if you're a frost build and have icy veins, the evocation glyph kicks ***. I've got it, mage armor, slow fall and the penguin glyph. I'm hoping they'll be some more useful minor glyphs that come out with the expansion, because right now the only one that's decent is the slow fall glyph.

Quick question. Right now I have the Penguin and Slow Fall Minor glyphs on my frost mage, and I recently hit 70 and can't seem to find any decent minor glyphs for my third slot except for MAYBE the one that lowers the mana cost of AI, which frankly I don't see as being that useful as I rarely cast it mid battle. Does anyone have any suggestions of minor glyphs that I'm just not seeing on the AH that are half way decent besides those three?

As far as I can remember, you have a few glyphs which change your poly spell (penguin and bear are the ones I can remember, although I'm not sure bear made it into live). There's the slow fall glyph (which you have), AI glyph which reduces mana cost by half, and then the 2 ward glyphs, which give your frost or fire ward a chance to reflect the spell. There also a frost armour glyph which doubles the duration of your frost/ice armour.

Consider this though:

Minor glyphs are discovered and not learned from a trainer, so it's luck of the draw in terms of someone learning one you need and making it to sell. The biggest problem is that by the time the scribe learns the glyph, it's already grey and won't offer a skill point for making it. So if the scribe makes it, it's for one reason alone ... to make money by selling it (if he's even bothered to do that). This, coupled to the fact that not every scribe knows all the minor glyphs (every scribe WILL ultimate know all major ones), means that the availability and price of minor glyphs is going to prohibit casual buying (unless you have no qualms about blowing 50g on a glyph that cost about 1-2g to learn and the same to make).

So, a suggestion would be ... check out wowhead (or your fav flavour of wow db site), look and see what mats are required for the minor glyph(s) you would like, aquire the raw materials, and spam trade asking for someone who can make it (or check out someone's inscription link why the link it in trade, which is done occasionally). Pay the person a small fee, and be done with it.

If, however, you still can't find any minor glyphs to your taste ... then .. sorry ;-)

I'm only level 20 but using Glyph of Blink and Glyph of Slowfall. Is Blink waisting a good glyph spot. O.o?

Hmm, that's good to know. I didn't know that about minor glyphs. It's just frustrating that it seems like there aren't any good minor glyphs for mages. Blizzard really needs to do something about that.

Blink isn't bad, though I'd probably use something else.

actually. blink is pretty much a waste. any buff to a spell is better than none, but compare that glyph to the others you could put in that slot. is blink better than, say, fireball? for a level 20, your glyphs barely matter since the juiciest glyphs are for abilities that you don't even have yet.

frost nova or fireball are pretty much the only choices at that level if you want something that's directly useful for leveling.

I'd recommend Glyph of Evocation for a level 20 (which is coincidentally the level my mage is), instead of the Fireball Glyph. Really helps with levelling, though Glyph of Evo goes for 1g on my server while Fireball goes for 50, which might of effected my decision a bit.
