you have to hope to burn them down and get the jump on them. That is the problem, you can't kite/snare a druid because they can just shape-shift out of it (although it does take mana for them to do so).

Indeed. One of the strategies I used to use involved rank 1 frostbolt to run the druid OOM. Nowadays, that'll run you OOM too.

At your level fighting a druid will be very hard. The only strat I can tell you is the one I use at 70 (and really the only one that works now). You want to drop his HP little by little while attempting to kite him. Taking out big chunks of his HP will usually cause him to pop out and heal. If you can get him to around 60% HP then you just have to open up on with the biggest, fastest DPS you can pull off.

At your level you won't have alot of quick burst damage but use what you can. You have to catch him off guard and kill him before he figures out what's going on. With full HP this is pretty much impossible but if you can get him to around half then you can pull it off.

I'm not sure if this works at that lvl but with druids there are few ways that you can try. Burn them down so quickly that they dont have time to heal (cause panic and hope they aren't that good =/ ), or try to kite them and fight their mana instead of hp.

You can't really counterspell their heals and you also can't Spellsteal before lvl70 so I would say burst and "control". Try to keep them slowed and nuke as hard as you can. Also since you were talking about world pvp, try to run from them. Invisibility would help doing that but you'll get it at lvl68.

So, my advise is that lvl as fast as you can and remember their names when you hit 70/80! Go find them and teach them a lesson or two.

Ps. If you have higher main char, it doesn't hurt to keep him/her close to your leveling area for those lessons also.

Very good advice for fighting a druid. Not just for mages but for all classes. We druids are extremely destructive with mana, but once we run out we are the most useless class in the game. No wands for us, just usually a big, glowing piece of cut up tree that we can whack things with.

I usually follow the sugestions above when fighting druids. Yesterday however, I found myself in a really bad situation against a resto druid in one of those looong duels that occur in some BG's, since the guy NEVER ran out out of mana no matter what i casted.

I did exactly what is said here, constantly spammed Slow, trying and force him to shapeshift in order to drain his mana pool, besides nuking him with a respectable sequence of ABarr - Fireblast - Missile Barrage (whenever procced) while he was silenced, but he easily overhealed all of my burst attempts. To summarize, in the end I was ooM and he didn't kill me, just went away /laughing and /waving to me.

BTW, 1000 spellpower 24% crit 350 resilience mage here, I know I suck and might just got overgeared by him, anyway all I wanted to say is that properly played/geared, resto druids can still be nasty for every class, particularly us mages.

My main is a feral, but he's sat dormant for a while as I have enjoyed my newly buffed frost mage. With ferals, absolutely, fight that mana pool and kite them. Plus, nowadays, we can simply outburst them. Since we can get shatter combos even if they are not frozen, ferals are relatively easy. Blink out of the cat stun and you're golden. Get a couple of fingers of frost procs and you can nuke em down even while they're close, since they can't dispel your ice barrier.

I agree as feral druid if mage don't panic they will win most of the time as long as they have equal gear.
