I was having a conversation with another player earlier and we got onto the subject of how a few classes know have some sort of knockback abilities: (Typhoon for druids, etc.) and I think that the move kick should have some sort of knockback effect as well.

My logic behind this is that rogues must have strong legs since not only can we fall farther (I'm assuming its our legs that absorb the impact) but we can potentially run on water. Granted its not for long, but when is the last time you saw anyone walk on water. It seems like it would require at least some sort of training of the legs.

This brings me to my next point, that a kick should knock someone back. It certainly has that effect IRL (yes I realize this is just a game). I've watched the animation, this isn't some little sissy kick to the shin, its a full blown roundhouse to the chest or face (depending on the race). One would almost expect a kick like that to have some sort of physical affect like being knocked back.

In conclusion, I know that this will most likely never happen, and if it did it would most likely be a glyph or talent or some such thing. However I think that if it was added, it would certainly fit,as well be appropriate for the class. Not only that, but the move would have some potential use against non-casters as well. I just had the idea and wanted to share it.

Yes, let's knock someone back OUT OF MELEE RANGE when we are a MELEE CLASS.

Genius.

(If it's opposite day.)

Yeah. Uh...

Frost mage uses Frost Nova.

Frost mage starts casting frostbolt.

You kick.

Frost mage is now 20 yards away and you need to burn Imp Sprint or Vanish to get to him.

Good job.

Minor glyph that plays "THIS...IS...SPARTAAAAA!" wave file when you kick, IMO.

What the hell is it with people wanting Melee classes to have a knockback .. it was suggested on a warrior forum I read the other day (and vehemently defended when he was taken to task about it) ... it's the most retarded thing ever.

I don't want it for any good PvP or PvE reason. I want it because people always stop right on the edge of high up places. And if you are of the the sneaky, hard to see persuasion, it is almost your duty to kick, tickle, wedgie, goose or in some other way cause them to fall off for maximum hillarity. So as far as usefulness I am fine with it being limited to only from stealth, from behind, and only when your target is on the edge of something really high (tower, zepplin, Aldor rise, chains in Blackrock, etc) as long as it includes a "WTF!...Ahhhhhhh!" type animation. But yeah, other than that, melee knockback...mah!

From behind, huh ??

Wouldn't that be a knock forward ?? :-\

Just asking.

I was going to defend it but then I was like "Oh yeah what do I look like? Someone whose not lazy?" But seriously, as simple as his argument was, Theo made like the perfect point to shut the whole idea down. Even though I'm sure we can think of a reason when knock could potentially have use(off the LM cliff in AB or perhaps off the edge in EOTS. I dare say it would definatly be even more viable if they added the minor glyph that Theo mentioned.) I would even go as far to say it might be useful tool in getting away; maybe that knockback could put someone far enough away so an AOE or something would miss. This is all speculation.

But as far as general practicality it dosn't help if you your primary spell interupt put people out of range. It could just as easily provide them with the break that they've been needing. Also the is virtually no use in PVE. In retrospect it probably would have been better to suggest it as a new move like dropkick or somethin. It would be a strictly knock back and while it would have limited applications, you certainly wouldn't have to use it.

If its on CD in a BG yes <.<

Having Dismantle on CD when a full S4 warrior DWing Twinblade of the Phoenix and Cat's Edge comes at you really sucks.

I had a better chance against him than the ret pally I used it on though.

Well, smashing someone in the face with a big axe should probably knock them back more than a kick. Just sayin' ;)

And no, I'd really rather it didn't :) Maybe a slow effect! blade kick to the kneecap, ouch.

Honestly, I'd love it if they added more kick attacks to the rogue ********

What I'd love is if they made the combat tree have martial arts like talented abilities. Give us kick attacks! It would be sort of like the ranger's new 'wild quiver' ability. Melee attacks have a chance of the rogue performing an extra kick attack. Hells yeah.

Next, lets talk about what pirate abilities we can put in the assassination tree.

Meh, I guess I don't mind because I can usually 5-8 until Dismantle is back up, especially with the new Frost Grenades.

That.

And I find knockback to be annoying, rather. It could be fun to play around with (and reach unreachable areas with), but that's it. I suppose a rogue's natural answer to knockback could/should be Shadowstep, but since I no longer have it...

Also, I've got a triggerhappy ele shaman pall who insists on using solely knockback. That's fairly freaking annoying if you're on top of a warlock. Ofcourse it's fun to watch him as he gets 3-shot just after running to a mage and getting his knockback resisted, though.

Oh I'd say sometime around just before 0 A.D.

The only minor glyph for kick I would ever use is one that changes the animation to that of kicking them in the balls. I don't think it should be a glyph but the standard animation for it.
