When to break spellfire setFollow

#1 Oct 28 2008 at 7:37 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so I recently changed guilds to a raiding guild, and its become clear to me that I'm going to get gear rather quickly. Last night was my first run and we did SSC. This dropped and I did not roll on it although I wondered if I should (guild rules require you to use it or pass). My primary reason for not rolling was that I did not want to break the set bonus for the spellfire set. So at this point I'm looking for guidance as to 1. when its prudent to break the set, and 2. whether I should have rolled (I'm more interested in the former, but if you know the answer to the latter, and its yes, please let me down easy.) Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Realistically the spellfire set (as you know) has 0 stam. It would be wise to pick up some pieces for yourself if you will be needing a stam set (as you go on there is more and more raid damage requiring you to live through it). It has been a while, but I believe I picked up that piece, wore t5 gloves and used belt of blasting.

If you can get ahold of it, it might be worth breaking for the new set from the Scourge Invasion.

When I got Belt of Blasting, I broke the set. Now I use the robe from ZA and T4 with the mantle of elven kings. I like to be able to survive. If you are dead, it doesn't matter what your spell power is. I am working on badges for the badge pants and maybe the robe as well. I do not know if I would have taken the robe from from Hydross either, though I have had the chance a few times. It's really up to you and your personal playstyle.

I personally geared for the specific fights. Hell even in BT I would occasionally throw on my spellfire set just to see my spelldmg go even higher. That being said, with the new badge rewards pretty much everything comes out ahead of it.

Speaking of which, are they continuing badge gear in WOTLK?

they like the token system and how it panned out. With WotLK, Blizz will introduce new tokens to use as currency.
