Sheath of Light. A Heal over Time after a heal crit. Something Holy Paladins have been screaming for for years now. It was given to Retribution.
This made me (and probably many other people) wonder if a deep ret spec would be a viable healing spec. So I've been healing 25-mans as both a PvE Holy spec, and an 18/0/43 heal spec.
In my heal gear, I have 120 more bonus healing as the ret spec, with 2% more spell crit.
Ret has Art of War procs vs. Holy's Holy Shock.
Ret has Sheath of Light vs. Holy's Bacon of Light.
Ret has roughly 125 MP5 from JotW vs Holy's 10% haste from Enlightened Judgements.
Ret also gains bonus healing from AP buffs. Fully buffed in mid-battle, that 120 extra from earlier climbed to 250.
The biggest thing Holy has over Ret is Infusion of Light + Light's Grace. Holy Light cast times lower than 1 second make for great emergency healing.
In my mind, Deep Ret is a perfectly viable healing spec, but Pure Holy does better when solo-healing a tank through burst damage, or two tanks taking equal heavy damage.
I need to get to 80 to try out the extra 10 points.
