Problem with weapondsFollow

#1 Oct 25 2008 at 7:08 AM Rating: Default
My weaponds in my hand slot are circled green and unusable. I have the lvl requirements and have trained in the ability. What is wrong ? I've tried different weaponds and as soon as I click to use them, it circles green. Any help is appriciated.

Means you are out of luck.

I don't understand what you mean.

If it is green that means that it is an uncommon item, blue is rare, purple epic, yellow/orange legendary.

If you want to hit someone with it you need to right click on the person or hit 1 (assuming you have not rebound it).

Is there anything I can do to correct this problem ? The problem isn't the color of the name of the weapond, it's the circle around the action box. I'm tired of fighting only with spells. NEED a weapond that I can use. THNXS

You don't click on the weapon, you use 'attack'.

Open up your spellbook (p) and move 'attack' to your action bar. I also recommend getting a wand so that you can 'shoot', it is far better than meleeing.

oh, and if you are tired of fighting with spells you probably picked the wrong class, that is our only real way of attacking.

Yes, we are mages, we blow stuff up. You'll find that mage melee is very lacking.

I understand that Mages are spell based, but it doesn't hurt to have a weapond. Is there anything I can do to get a weapond that will hit. Because of the green circle around the box, it does nothing ! I've tried maces, daggers, staffs and have trained.

I also wish you would stop typing weapons with a d. Thank you.

You have an attack button that you can use but i am puzzled as when you cast spells at a mob and they get into range you should start hitting them anyway .

Try right clicking a target first then shooting spells at them , when they are in range your weapon will be used , but as a Mage you should never be hitting them , the idea is cast spells , freeze mob or blink when they get close or use both and fire from ranged distance as when a Mage gets hit they die fast.

Also i do not understand the

? where exactly is this slot ?

The problem is that you're using weaponDs. If you want to be a melee mage, you're going to need to equip a normal WEAPON. All you need to do is put this WEAPON (read: NOT weaponD) into your mainhand slot and right clicky on the mob.

I'd also advise stacking Strength and Agility. Those are the most useful stats for a melee mage.

The green circle around the box means that you have the item equipped.

To use it you need to find the skill that relates to that weapon (like Anobix said), e.g. a sword, dagger or staff will need the Attack ability to be put on a button (you can find it in the general tab in your spell book).

More useful for a mage though would be to buy a wand and look for the Shoot ability in your spell book.

Lastly, mages can't learn maces, so I wouldn't worry about trying to buy/loot one of those.

I like it when people update their original post with information on the outcome. Our lead mage had lag issues so I had to tank the mage. It was actully not difficult at all. We wiped the first time because one of our locks pulled aggro of the main tank but we got them the 2nd time. Both times the initial pull went off without a problem. The only issue was that on 2 occasions I couldn't spellsteal because a sheild was up. Other than that it was easy.

Just have to remember to spellsteal whenever you have the opportunity (shield is not up). He puts it up every minute after you dispell it and the buff lasts for 2.
