Affliction rotation for soloingFollow

This isn't quite the same topic as the post on the raid rotation - I have a lvl 65 full affliction lock and want to get the best dps out of him while soloing. UA almost has to go at the beginning, and then I use Corruption, SL and CoA. The main question I have is where Haunt should go - at the beginning or at the end?

A lot of what your rotation should be depends on your personal play style. Even on the beta servers, I prefer drain hunting over tanking, so I choose my sequence to provide the lowest threat to begin with. Send pet in, wait for him to get aggro. Then Siphon Life, Corruption, CoA, UA, Haunt, Life Tap, Drain Life. I don't draw aggro, mob dies. Sure, drain tanking is faster - but I save time by not needing to get my armor repaired as often.

If you drain tank, your rotation would be different, since you want to grab aggro away from your pet. The same for other play styles. the rotation while soloing should reflect the way you play and not be a "something for everyone". DPS isn't the only criteria for soloing.

It all depends on your play style. I play a fear lock when soloing. So I hit my target with UA first, fear, Haunt, Corruption, CoA, SL. I'll then life tap and drain life (or just suck mana from my imp if needed). If the target is not fearable I send in the Voidwalker and give him a few seconds to get aggro before unloading on the poor mob. I almost always get aggro toward the end but the mob rarely gets more than one hit off on me (which Haunt then heals).

Find a style that you feel comfortable with that doesn't leave you drinking after every 2-3 fights.

For Drain Tanking (at 70), I'v found that Shadowbolt, Haunt, UA, Corruption, CoA, Drain Life and finishing with a Drain Soul for mana/shard works quite well. Most TBC mobs are dead before the Drain Life has finished, and you get heaps of health back meaning mana isn't an issue. So I guess you don't to apply all those DoT's, just see what works.

I Drain Tank with - CoE, Corruption, Siphon Life, Haunt, DP/LT, Drain Life.

You either:

a) Never run our of mana/health

or

b) Solo multiple mobs (I am currently on about 6 70-72 mobs without worry)

Thanks all. I use Imp for a mana battery (although I'm beginning to wonder if I shouldn't get the Felhunter out. The advice sounds good, I will try it out!

Drain Tank

Haunt > CoA > UA > SL > Corr > Dark Pact > Drain Life > Drain Soul. Most stuff is finished with 1 Drain life or less and a sec of Drain soul. Fights end with full health and mana.

Nastier stuff gets feared and CoE if I can.
