I am wondering, with the buffs our pets got, specifically the felhunter, how viable an option he is for improving dps?

It seems like shadow bite and the improved felhunter talent, combined with more mana regen for pets, would make him a good option to compete with the imp?

When we went into TK the other day for our post patch build try-outs the destruction warlock's imp was usually putting out 10%-15% of her dps. Meanwhile as a deep affliction build my felhunter was doing 4%-9%.

The destruction tree has 2 talents that boost the imp with some point left over for Improved Imp in destruction. The affliction tree lacks when it comes to actually increasing the fel-hunters damage. The imp glyph is a static 10% increase in damage while the felhunter glyph is a 6% crit chance increase to shadow bite.

While it's an increase to dps compared to a phase shifted mana-battery imp is still lacks when compared to the synergy that destruction has with it's designated pet.

simply put, if you're an afliction lock you'll be using the felhound. once talented into it you'll never run out of mana and it won't either, it can dps AND you can darkpact from it whenever you need to. as said, it doesn't do amazing damage.. but it's not meant to. it's meant to be a raid buff/perminant mana pool for you.
