Can someone explain to me what this actually does? Is it a one hit thing, or does it simply imbue your off-hand to constantly do 100% damage? How does it function with Flametongue?

It is a one hit every six seconds with your offhand for full damage. It's pretty decent with WF on weapon, haven't done FT yet. I'm still not sure about FT for enhancement...I will wait for the experts to figure that out.

it does fire damage so it is not affected by targets armor (although will be affected by FR)
if your using FT on OH it will do 25% more damage. if it is better then wf i am not sure but a nice slow weapon should be good to use with this attack.

Elemental devastation is affected by spells Lava Lash is considered more of a strike or melee attack, even flame tongue crits will not proc elemental devastation.

Take a look here:
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=60103

if you scroll down a little bit it says it is in the school of fire which shows that it does fire damage. This is what makes the attack awesome is that it would bypass armor as I mentioned before but hey maybe I am wrong go smack a fire elemental with it and see if it does damage.

It is fire damage. I recall getting resist popups during a MC run (figured I better practice the new "rotation", regardless of resists).

Basically, it's an instant attack that deals fire damage based on your offhand damage. It deals more damage if your offhand is imbued with FT than if it was imbued with anything else.

Don't see why it is not an elemental spell lol, it is a melee strike that avoids armor by causing fire damage, I bet it can proc Unleashed Rage and Flurry though, probably Maelstrom Weapon too.

I was just thinking, if Lava Lash scaled with spell damage then your AP would be wasted on this attack, you would gain only 1/3 of your AP for damage, UR would not affect Lava Lash nearly as well, and Elemental Devastation would not increase it's chance to crit.

As it is now it scales much better then if it was a elemental spell that could proc Elemental Devastation.

actually Jmfmb it would be better if it did spell damage becuase it would still do 125% of weapon damage(which includes AP) but it would hit as a fire spell(which it does already). SO it should proc ED if it crit. How could a instant attack that does fire damage not be classified as spell damage. Bliz is just making stuff up.

It does scale with AP becuase it does 100% of offhand weapon damage. But if it is doing the damage with fire damage AND its a instant casted move, it should proc Elemental devastation. Blizzard its just making things up for no reason. they should fix it.

I don't think you get it, its a melee attack just instead of being physical damage it does fire damage, it is unique and not to be confused with a spell, think of it as a strike. The fact that blizzard gave us a attack that avoids armor all together is awesome don't you think blizzard could work on other things with the shaman class then tweaking an ability that already works perfectly fine?
