Hello Priestly Folk,
I have been edging slowly toward 70, and it has occurred to me that I have about 360 spell power. I have looked around at different gear available through quests and the AH and I can not seem to find anything that will get me up to the 1000+ recommended for Heroics. Any hints you could give me as to where I need to go for this magical spell power?
My Character is named Moonshard Server is "Sisters of Elune".
(As an aside I chose the name purely because I bet someone it would not be available. Once I got it, I felt like I had to make a character.)

Here is a wonderful post by Cococj on the subject, except... it seems to be gone. This is a great guide from WoW Insider. It's all outdated information given the patch and the fact that you can replace some of the old healer items with other caster gear now, but it's a place to start.
Are you sure that 1000 number is right? That seems a little high for heroics with the new change to spell power. I don't know what the conversion is (math is icky), but before the patch it was ~1200 +healing that I heard recommended for heroics and Kara. I think that translates to a much lower spell power number than 1000 doesn't it? I had something like 1850 +healing before and I'm at 1060 something spell power, I think.
When I hit 70 I just went through guides like the ones above, slot by slot, and got the best stuff I could, focusing on crafted items, rep rewards, and quest rewards rather than waiting on lucky drops. I was able to get well within the Kara/Heroic guidelines pretty fast that way, with the right gems and enchants on anything I thought I'd be keeping a while.

I started my quest for gear long ago with Tailoring. At 70, the crafted items are very nice. I also bought an Essence Focuser as a starter mace, then replaced it several times from both kara and badges.
Keep questing and doing what normal instances you can. You can check out http://www.wow-loot.com/ for some of the gear that is available. I always found the Armory's "Find an Upgrade" to be very helpful in looking at each of my slots and what is possible.
With the expansion this close, don't spend a lot of money gearing up. Keep getting your quest rewards. If you are 70 before the expansion, get into Kara if you can. You will gear up there faster than any other way.
Remember that with the expansion, the quests are going to give you good loot, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just get yourself to Northrend and start those quests.

i think spellpower gets a extra 88% effect toward heal spells
so if you want an old school +heal number... taken your spell power, and multiply it by 1.88
(gets teacake from about 1k to about 1800 like he/she said)
umm reputation pieces, tailoring boe's (or bop if your a tailoring beast) and honor farm is the easiest path id assume
for example, the spellpower enhanced "imbued nethereave set" is just stam, int, SP, and mp5
not that expensive either, good place to start imo
just remember, a large majority of dps gear can be at least somewhat useful now... just gem spirit and get regen enchants and youll be there in no time
(must hit 70, bringer of death awaits my crit based healing! lol)

Ok thanks a ton to everyone. I was talking to another priest on my server who was yapping on and on about getting to 1000+ spell power, and I kept thinking: Jesus that is gonna be hard!
